MANCHESTER, N.H. (Reuters) - Enthusiasm for the Democratic Party is waning among millennials as its candidates head into the crucial midterm congressional elections, according to the Reuters/Ipsos national opinion poll. The online survey of more than 16,000 registered voters ages 18 to 34 shows their support for Democrats over Republicans for Congress slipped by about 9 percentage points over the past two years, to 46 percent overall. And they increasingly say the Republican Party is a better steward of the economy. Although nearly two of three young voters polled said they do not like Republican President Donald Trump, their distaste for him does not necessarily extend to all Republicans or translate directly into votes for Democratic congressional candidates. That presents a potential problem for Democrats who have come to count on millennials as a core constituency - and will need all the loyalty they can get to achieve a net gain of 23 seats to capture control of the U.S. House of Representatives in November. Young voters represent an opportunity and a risk for both parties, said Donald Green, a political science professor at Columbia University in New York City. “They’re not as wedded to one party,” Green said. “They’re easier to convince than, say, your 50- or 60-year-olds who don’t really change their minds very often.” https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...-millennials-reuters-ipsos-poll-idUSKBN1I10YH
Hillary Clinton: Being a Capitalist ‘Probably’ Hurt Me in Primary Because Many Democrats Are Socialists https://www.thedailybeast.com/hilla...primary-because-many-democrats-are-socialists
Yeah that must totally be why the people voted for Trump in Michigan and Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, they were huge socialists. I swear she can't see the forest for the trees sometimes.
Yup. It makes me lol when I see either side shitting their pants in favor of either party. They both suck. Hard. To be fair, I agree with some and loathe some of what both parties stand for. I sure as hell hope there ends up being more parties and both the dems and repubs become dismantled.
Does this surprise anyone? The problem with the left has always been too many agendas and not enough unity. The right has always been able to rally around simple slogans and concepts. After the financial collapse Dems couldn't even make occupy wall street work because every special interest group tried to hijack it for their own ends.
Oh My God, she is clueless and still blatantly spreading misinformation. I genuinely subscribe to the notion that HRC would have at least been better than Trump, but with every public appearance since then I have more and more doubts.
I didn't say that. In my experiences that age range shits on millenials and blames them for stuff. Ya'know putting people in a box and being hypocritical.
Soon we will be old and we can shit on everyone. Can't wait. Ok funny thing about this is my parents. They are as liberal as you get, but ever since they retired and are out of time to see the fruits of any real change, I've noticed that their beliefs are becoming more conservative especially when it involves the economy.
So the professors are not all-powerful mind control puppetmasters after all? Wow, you'll have to rethink your whole worldview. barfo
The ideology still exists in campuses around the country and I gave plenty of examples in the other thread, you just don't want to pay attention. That's fine. People are waking up to it now. Not much you can do about it
Nothing I want to do about it. I don't worry about what college kids do or think. The kids are alright. barfo
