It's hard to lose, and even harder to lose to the Nuggets. Stojakovic had a nice game with nineteen points. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">DENVER, Nov. 1 (Ticker) -- Carmelo Anthony finally found his shooting touch. Anthony scored 23 points on 9-of-14 shooting to lead the Denver Nuggets to a 109-88 victory over the Sacramento Kings, who suffered their first loss of the season. "My first two games, I was anxious to get out there," Anthony said. "Now I am settling down." The third overall pick in the 2003 draft and the centerpiece in a massive rebuilding project, Anthony shot just 31 percent from the field in his first two games, which were split by the Nuggets. Peja Stojakovic guarded Anthony for most of the game and was impressed with the rookie's performance. "He played good," Stojakovic said. "He is very skilled. He did some good things in the paint and was good at penetrating. We allowed him some easy buckets off long rebounds, but he played real well." Voshon Lenard added 15 points while Chris Andersen and Rodney White added 12 apiece for Denver. Andersen also had 11 rebounds while Marcus Camby led Denver with 12 and 10 points. "Their guys played better than ours," Kings coach Rick Adelman said. "They outplayed us, they outhustled us. Don't take anything away from Denver. They were pushing the ball and being aggressive. We've got to be a little bit smarter." Stojakovic led Sacramento with 19 points but made just 7-of-18 shots. Mike Bibby added 15 points and 10 assists but was 6-of-15 as Sacramento shot an uncharacteristic 36 percent (33-of-91). The Kings had shot better than 50 percent in their first two games but were held to just 10 points in the final period. "We did not play good basketball," said Kings forward Vlade Divac, who finished with just six points and two rebounds in 20 minutes. Brad Miller was the only other King in double figures with 13 points.</div> RecaplBoxscore
Yes, it truly is. A team like the Kings should not lose to a team like the Nuggets. But crazy things have been happenning around the NBA as of late, Sixers lost to Golden State, Spurs lost to Denver, etc. I wouldn't get too caught up in it though, we all know what the Kings are capable of, and they just might make a strong run this year.
Stop acting like the Nuggets are some horrible team..They aren't.Don't look at last years Nuggets record and think they are the same team...They clearly are much better Their defence has been very good...You don't beat two of the top west powerhouses by pure fluke... They would be a playoff team in the east...but so would almost every west team.
I really don't see where they have improved much. Sure they brought in Anthony and Miller, but that's not saying much. At least not right now. You may prove me wrong, but it's probably since I don't follow much Nuggets basketball. But, I'm always open for learning.
Andre Miller Voshon Lenard Jon Barry Francisco Elson Earl Boykins Carmelo Anthony All new players at the Nuggets this season...Of course they have improved...This past week proved it.... Miller adds scoring and is a guy who can rebound the basket and pass the ball to his team-mates..coming off an off year with the Clippers...is ready to be known as one of the best PG's in the NBA again Voshon Lenard was the Raptors best player last season while averaging under 15 points per game..He is a very good shooter and he can slash...He adds much needed depth at the SG spot...to help Rodney White Jon Barry who I know more than anyone else how big he can be for your team..He can not only hit the big three he gets the crowd into it and he plays tough defence...A very good player to have on the bench Francisco Elson is a young guy and has started off averaging 4 and 2..he looks real good when going inside he has good sixe at 7'0...He just adds depth to the forward/center spot Earl Boykins is one of the best 6th man in the NBA..He is such a spark for any team..Everyone saw how clutch he was with the Warriors last season..He helped them win alot of games in what was a very improved year for Golden State...He is averaging well over 10 points per game so far backing up Andre Miller No need for me to explain what Carmelo Anthony does..I think thats clear And having a heathly Marcus Camby is a huge boost....He is averaging well over 12 rebounds a game so far.. I hope that explains it....
