The Milwaukee Bucks need backcourt scoring to counter their injury crisis. That's why the teams, according to NBA front-office sources, are combining on a trade featuring Earl Boykins that will be announced later Thursday. Now 10 games into the Allen Iverson Era, Denver has agreed to send Boykins and little-used forward Julius Hodge to the Bucks for guard Steve Blake.</div> Link
bad trade earl could score more eventhough he is 1ft smaller.denver became too greedy after the ai trade.watch them play like knicks when melO comes back.
Good for Boykins. He can score all he wants in Milwaukee and not have to fight for minutes in Denver.
Denver will continue to make deals like this because they are in salary cap hell heading into next season. The Nuggets will do all they can to avoid paying the luxury tax. This move saves them $3M this year and next year. I wouldn't be surprised to see them trade Reggie Evans or Najera next if they can't find a taker for Nene.
I know they dont want to pay the luxery tax, but dont they want to win? i thought the point of acquiring iverson was to win a championship. I dont see how steve blake is going to improve this team. Possibly because he doesnt need as many shots and is more of a playmaker, but boykins can aslo do that just as well...

When the Nuggets initially traded for Iverson, there was speculation Early Boykins would be the odd man out. The Nuggets want to move forward with Iverson-JR-Melo, although this leaves Denver without a backup PG if Blake is shipped out.
^ That's what I was thinking. Denver would be extremely thin in the backcourt - they have JR Smith, who's still developing as a shooter, if only because his shot selection continues to horrify me, and Iverson, who IMO still isn't a true 1. That's about it. Diawara and Johnson are both wing players. There's no true ballhandler behind Iverson, and that would scare the hell out of me if I was George Karl, trying to run all the time. Seeing as Najera and some other guys are likely to be dangled, I'd sure hope that the Nugs' brass is looking at getting some guards in return.
I really like boykins on this team. If anything they should have tried harder to move nene instead. Dont know if thats possible though.

I don't know what caused him to play so poorly with us this year. I think he's still going to be a real good backup throughout his career - this was just a bad stretch.
I saw some of Blake last night, he was balling. He's def. more useful to this team than Boykins. he was catching some of those Nugs offguard by passing to them, they were like who the hell is this Steve Nash 2? lol
Blake had 13 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists on his Nuggets game on 5-8 shooting. So a pretty good start for him.
IMO, this was a bad deal for Nuggets. Boykins was playing great with Iverson. And all they get is Blake?

Boykins wanted a shot everytime he got the ball, Blake is hitting outside shots and making plays. Something the Nuggets have been missing.
