QB - Carter RB - Hambrick WR - Johnson WR - Bryant TE - Campbell This doesn't feel right. Cowboy71, you need to set me straight. Is this the current depth chart? Will Parcells stay with Hambrick? Will the Cowboy's draft a receiver or sign a free agent?. With the loss of Galloway, I'm sure they are looking at getting an impact player that will be immediate to the cause. What's the scoop? Ok, I replaced Glenn with Keyshawn... that's what was missing. So now where does Glenn fit into this lineup? Or is Bryant the odd man out?

I expect Vinny will be signed June 1 as a backup unless Henson for some reason overly impresses them before then. I don't expect that, so Vinny will be there to run things if Carter would go down. Hambrick will be back with the team in a FB capacity, or maybe a short yardage RB. Expect the Cowboys to draft a RB with one of their first two picks. I expect Jackson and Jones to be gone. Chris Perry would be a slight reach at #22. I think the best scenario is for a couple high quality receivers to still be available at #22, which would cause some of the bottom of the round to want to trade up. Ideally, Dallas would probably be happy with Perry or a lineman at the end of the first round, and get an extra pick out of it. Other options would happen in round 2 or 3. Don't overlook June 1. No one is really on the radar, but the draft could make some decent guys available. Glenn stepped into the #2 receiver role when Bryant had a bad sophomore year after a great rookie year. If Bryant can get his head out, he could make part of a pretty decent triplet. They all have different skills. Bryant can do a little of everything. Glenn still has some amazing speed to stretch the field, and was effective at that last year. Johnson is more physical and will help to control the ball and move the chains. He is not going to be asked to carry the franchise (which is good cause he can't). Odds are they will not draft a WR that will immediately contribute. The TE position is up in the air. Campbell has played well, but this Whitten kid is the TE they have been looking for since Novacek. No, he's not a Novacek, but he is a pretty good receiver and a great draft pick last year. At this point, he didn't block as well as Campbell, but he can improve. I wouldnt be surprised to see some double TE sets next year either. Notice how the Cowboys are coming back and looking like the Patriots by design. Geez, you'd think these two coaches spent time together or something. If Henson can end up even mentioned with Brady, these two teams would look pretty similar. Our receiving game is almost there. No absolute stars, but a bunch of guys that can contribute when asked and create mismatches by all the different offensive sets they can come up with. The draft will consist of (in no particular order) a G, T, RB, DT, CB, and then probably best available if we happen to get any additional picks along the way.
Tough draft that is relatively weak at G, T, RB, & DT. The only position rich in this draft is CB on the Cowboys wish list. Hopefully they can get some steals late. Parcells will probably focus on best available talent anyway. He's too good to get sucked into the whole chase to fill position deal.
I agree. With how the mock draft are churning so much, I could easily seeing us grab a really good player that has just happened to fall down to #22.
Exactly. Parcells will do a good job. I have no doubt. I think if they go best available, they are sure to kick butt in the draft.
I just think that their need at RB is a big one. I acctually like Quincy Carter, and I think given the right tool he can be a very good player in this league. However, if the season would start today I just dont see the Cowboys repeating last years performance. They need a back that will take pressure off of Quincy, and expecting a rookie to do that is a big mistake.
I'll lay it all out and admit that Dallas overachieved by a game or two. But here's the deal. They did not have the talent to do what they did, but through coaching, they did. When you don't have talent, you control the game and capitalize when given the opportunity. Quincy has some incredible talent, but he needs to show consistency this year, or his contract will not be renewed. He can make some plays, but he isn't consistent enough to sustain drivers and keep the ball out of the other team's hands. I agree that RB is a big need, but I disagree that a rookie won't make a positive impact. We're not expecting Priest Holmes kind of production out of our rookie, but the last few years have shown plenty of rookies that have come in and contributed ... and many were not first round picks.
Carter hasn't had much around him and some help at running back may help give him that consistancy. I agree that a rookie could be a big impact. I have enough faith in Parcells as a coach to know what's right when it comes to playing a guy early. In the right system, most players with talent can succeed.
The consistency I am talking about is throwing a perfect 50 yard pass, followed by two 15 yard passes that miss the wide open receiver by 10 yards. To translate, SF, think Kordell in even and odd years, then accelerate that to every other play. lol I'll give Carter this year, but his contract is then up. He better show some growth, or he won't be back.
Individual consistancy... I see. Hopefully good coaching and hard work will get him through that. I see your point on last chances. I don't see Parcells keeping him for another season if he doesn't play well this year.

Carter's gone, Hambrick's gone, and Bryant is the number 3 now.... QB - Testeverde RB - E. George WR - T. Glenn WR - K. Johnson TE - Campbell
There will be more. Bryant has always been the 3rd receiver, but expect Julius Jones to be the key RB this year.....sooner than later.
I agree with the J.Jones deal. It's just a matter of time. But knowing Parcell's, he will get the best out of George & Anderson. Jones won't likely be overused as a rookie.
