    According to David Aldridge

Fisher will opt out and wants to play for Houston, where he thinks he will get a starting spot.

That is absolute cheapness. Unless it was through the expansion draft, players shouldn't go to a team and want to start at their weakest position. I've never been a fan of him and this guarantees that I won't be one, even if he comes to the Rockets.

Yeah i hate Fisher, Fox, and George from the Lakers. They act like without them, the Lakers wouldnt have got where they WERE in the finals b4 they played Detroit. D-Fish mighta been, but George and Fox? Seriously.. Trip, u hear about us gettin Gaines? that might be good for us..

He won't be that bad of a choice though, the Rockets don't need an elite/playmaking PG anymore, just one that could make some open shots and bring the ball up the court. Fisher played that role great in LA, he should be able to do that in Houston too...

I'd take him in a heartbeat.

I'm sure we can all agree that Lue isn't going to win us any playoff series, and Gaines is all about potential for now :] What we need is solid, TURNOVER FREE point guard play, and Fisher can give that. He can also knock down the open three and make (painfully) clutch shots.

Not to mention he is a dedicated, solid defender. Perfect fit for the Rockets if you ask me!

If Houston can bring over T-Mac then Fisher is not a bad choice since they'll need a starting pointguard.

I agree with Trip, going to Houston just because he could start is rediculous. He's always been known as a "loyal" player, and now just because we're stuck with Gary for one more year he's thinking about bolting. Although I've been a Laker fan for years I'm not perticularly attatched to Fisher, but even I would be disappointed in him if he left.

I agree. I'm a Derek Fisher fan, I don't know him personally, but this guy definitely had class and was never someone you can make out to be proud or arrogant. And I remembered him saying that his heart bleeds purple and gold, so I wonder what's all this craze about going to Houston just to start?? He seemed to be alright being the sixth man behind Gary Payton, but I guess we were so wrong. Perhaps with Payton stinking it up in the playoffs, he felt somewhat hurt deep down inside that Phil Jackson didn't give him the opportunity to start once again?

I just don't see D Fish in any other jersey but a Laker jersey, and if I ever saw him in red and white, I'd probably boo him.

I don't think Fisher meant It like that, he just feels that at this stage of his career he wants start fresh and have a chance at starting. I honestly don't see anything wrong with that. I suppose he would be looking for a deal for the MLE or just under that.

I wouldn't offer him anymore than a 3 year deal though.

Anyways, I don't even feel Houston needs Fisher. Sure, he can make a few open shots and sink a potential game-winner, but he does not have much playmaking skills and is somewhat like a Steve Francis without the hops. And if the Rockets were willing to part with Steve Francis, I don't see why they would bring in a smaller version of him and hope to go further than we did with Francis.

Fisher.. I can't stand the guy... But he brings playoff experience, is a decent defender and can hit the open 3 when needed. He also has experience feeding the post, which is a good thing for Yao. Just because he signs with the Rockets doesn't mean he's an automatic starter though.

i'd love to see Fish in Houston...he'd make a great backup, veteran guard and wouldnt command too much in terms of salary...this is gonna be a crazy offseason for my Rockets!!! [IMG]

How is Fisher like Francis at all? Fisher brings the ball up and gives it to Shaq, Kobe, or Malone. then he spots up for three when the defense collapses. He doesn't drive to the basket well like Francis does, and he doesn't need the ball all the time like francis does.

We wouldnt have the cap room. Plus, he wouldnt wanna be on the bench, the guy needs a start if he wants to recover from his injury. We have an excuse for a back-up center, DeClerq sucks, cant do anything at all. Gaines should start over Lue, and Fisher shouldnt be on our Roster. He obviously doesnt like GP start over him, so why Lue/Gaines? I'm not tryin to dis u or anything, just wanna be a skeptist. I'm not totally in favor of this trade, though as a bball fan, I'm really excited. Fisher is an excellent roleplayer for LA, but for Houston? Would he want to take that role? I'm prety sure the Magic will be in the playoffs next season, and hopefully, for Francis', Cato's, and Mobley's sake, they'll learn to play some D. I think thats why so many teams in the East suck, they cant play defense. Look at Detroit.. they played amazing TEAM DEFENCE, thats what the Rockets need. I have no idea waht this season will bring.. Its not even safe to say taht we'll be in the playoffs, if we dont know how to play together, this season will suck. And lets hope no injuries to our bench, and our Starting Lineup.

I hate Fisher with a passion. He's a worse floppin little whiny b*tch than even the great actor Vlade himself. I hope he doesn't come and tarnish the Rockets.

Derek Fisher...if the Francise Tmac trade didnt happen, Fisher will be more valuable, becuase he can move Francis to the shotting guard postition and move either Jim or Molbey to the bench. He plays defense, shot a high percentage of threes, knows how to win games. I like the starting guards with Fisher and Francis better than Fisher and T-Mac.

If Fisher keep floppin for the rockets, he will be your favorite player, you hated him beucas he is with the lakers, but if he is with the Rockets, things will change. If he made another one the those shots against San Antonio, you will pray him as a god. lol

Did you watch him last season? he shot under 30% from the 3point line and 35 percent overall.. I know many have said it was just an off year, but how the hell do you consistently shoot that bad when you play all 82 games of the season? I was real disappointed in his shot selection as well. I know his numbers will be better next year (or else he'd be out of the league) but damn it was a nightmare watching him miss all those shots.

Fish is a great role player...and a half-court offense run with a bigman in the middle is exactly the type of offense that compliments Fisher's game. He knows that he's not the run-n-gun type of fastbreak player, but he knows that he can play off of Yao and bring the ball up the floor. I totally understand where he's coming from because with the possiblity of Shaq out of the picture and GP returning to the Lakers, there's a very good chance that Fish won't get the kinda role that he excels at.
