Derrick Johnson's agent agreed to a 5 year deal in the 10.something range today and should begin camp tomorrow. Freddie Mitchell tweaked a knee and is expected to be out 2 weeks (up to 6). They think it is a minor tear of the meniscus and should take 2-2 and 1/2 weeks to mend. Will shields is getting an opinion on his back today. He has battled it for a couple of years now so it is "old news" but it did make him contemplate retiring this offseason. Dexter McCleon will probably get the starting nod for the first month with Eric Warfield serving his 4-game suspension for violation of the league's alcohol abuse policy (3rd DUI). McCleon got torched last year regularly and was plain bad toward the end of the season, but he claims to have had some shoulder problems that made raising his arm to deflect passes nearly impossible. The team backs up those claims saying that they couldn't exactly broadcast that to opponents last year and that McCleon was still their best option at the time. <putting back on the chiefs-colored glasses> So hopefully we will not did ourselves a hole during a difficult 4 game opening stretch against the Jets, Raiders, Broncos, and Eagles.

I'm kind of surprised though that the cheifs haven't decided to overpay Law just to make a run...if you got that defense together your chances at a superbowl are very good..though I think your receiving corps could be a cause for concern...I'm not sold on Eddie Kennison and Freddie Mitchel..well...he has alot to prove for me to consider him a threat. Tony G will have to carry the load even more on third downs this year with no morton to be your possesion guy...though that running game obviously solves alot of problems...KC is definitely a team to watch this season.
Eddie Kenision is gonna be fine, but Freddie Mitchell is gonna suck next year. I see Dante Hall starting next year.
Hall struggled a lot at reciever last year. I expect them to start Kennison and Mithcell but to go with a WR in free agency or an early draft pick.

WAS our possesion receiver? He was over 100 catches last year. The lion's share of those were over the middle. I really think we would have better hands in the ballgame with a 2 TE set. Jason Dunn can catch. Too bad his knees are shot. I am still hoping that either Marc Boerigter can bounce back from a dreadful sophomore slump or Craphonso Thorpe will step up and establish himself in camp. Sammy Parker's speed should allow us to stretch the field and take some heat off of Gonzo.
The Cheifs may want to look into signing another established Wideout I think Tai Streets is still out there, he's a pretty decent Wideout.
