Looks like DeSantis is eyeing a 2024 run for president and Cruz and Hawley are pretty much guaranteed to run.

This will be interesting to watch. I just don't see embracing the Cult of Maga is a path to the presidency for anyone besides Trump.

And how do these 3 set themselves apart from each other to the Cult of Maga without trying to be more extreme than the other two?

Trump won in 2016 not because of his Maga followers but because he attracted a lot of middle-of-the-road voters. He lost in 2020 because he lost a big portion of those voters.

And then you have the strong possibility that Trump himself will run again.

Just not understanding the path to the presidency by all of them.

@MARIS61 as our most vocal Trump supporter and believer in his conspiracies do you see yourself supporting others instead of Trump?

Those 3 are not as charismatic as Trump is (which isn't saying much, since Donald has as much charisma as a wet diaper).

There's no such thing as an easy win anymore, with the tribal, locked-in nature of the electorate these days.

I've said before that an admitted pedophile could be a party's nominee and his (or her) floor would be 40% of the vote. I feel like Trump almost literally proved that (I suppose depending on how close you view him to be to Jeffrey Epstein) but he definitely proved that an admitted sexual molester has a floor of 40% and the upside to win a tightly-contested race.

Whomever gets the Republican nomination will be competitive in the general election, even if it's an inhuman monster or, worse, Ted Cruz.

Lol. Many Dems didn't like Hilary and didn't show up to vote because they thought there was no way Trump would win.

People showed up this time around and they will next time around with Trump still out there running the show for the GOP.

Haley has a better chance then any of them and thats not a great chance either. Trump will likely run again though. His ego is to big to let someone else run in his stead.

An intraparty civil war between Trump (and Trumpers) and mainstream Republican politicians (who believe the same basic things Trump and Trumpers do, but are aghast at Trump's bad manners) would be entertaining and might help Democrats win in 2022 and 2024.

In 2024 Trump will be even more old and doddering than he currently is (Biden looks like a teenager next to Trump) and will likely be tied up with his all personal baggage anyway. Hawley has made himself into FAR too much of a victim (though the Republican Party is the party of victimhood) and Cruz is a sociopath who (hopefully) has run out of idiots to fool. DeSantis is generally looked upon as an clown show outside of Florida. Haley is the most likely candidate at this time but she seems to be hellbent on either shooting herself in the foot, or confusing the voters as to what exactly it is she stands for (if anything). But then, most Republicans are dumb enough to elect her on looks alone (they’re not exactly a party of deep thinkers). Hopefully the next four years is one giant Republican cannibal fest......but yes, a lot can happen in four years. The Republican Party was dead in 2012.....and then woke up to steal the 2016 election. Until a stake is driven through the void where most people’s hearts are, America will remain in existential danger from the Republican Party. That is how far we have sunk.

No chance. Nobody except extremely marginal protest candidates run against their own party's incumbent. Her next theoretical chance to contest for the nomination would be 2028, at which point she'd be in her 80s. She's not running again.

Unless he has health struggles by then, I think he'll run for a second term. If he's still substantially similar in 4 years to how he is today, I don't think he drops out.
