I remember that when Gil scored 60 against the lakers there where around 3-4 articles about him be it "where his 60 ranks in history" or "how he did it"... Now Kobe just scored the seasin's high and just gets 1 article? LOL Sure he has a photo gallery... with just 6 pics? and a link to the video of his 65? I mean come on, the NBA can advertise better than this... or is it another sign that kobe isn't loved by the NBA?
This is what he does, so not much surprising. However if this is Lebron or Wade, you can bet the whole world, along with their girlfriend, the media will blows this thing up as if they achieve immortal status.
If it was Lebron or Wade, every single media outlet would be out there praising them, and saying how they are the greatest in the game and etc. Sportscenter would have their very own segment dedicating the 60 point game, and every sports journalist will be kissing their asses. It's not a surprise really. For every good game Kobe has, some journalist will write about how he only had 3 assists and how he didn't get his teammates involved and other crap

The love their golden boys and give them all the foul calls and media attention and other crap. While Kobe is the best player in the NBA and they just have to find something wrong with what he did. Look at who Kobe has to work with and look at who Dirk, Nash, Lebron, and Wade have to work with. Yesterday showed how much the the Lakers suck. They need Kobe to get 60 or higher for them to beat a lottery team in overtime. I'm not the biggest Kobe fan out there, but it's times like these that make you want to root for him.
When you scored 81 points already and you've scored 60 points through 3 quarters a couple times, 65 in overtime doesn't seem like a big deal. People expect Kobe to be able to drop 50 or 60 points now, like it's nothing. They've seen him do it too many times. The next time LeBron or Wade score 60 points will be the first time, and they will probably get more recognition for it. It's not as expected. If Kobe dropped 65 in the playoffs against a quality opponent (not the Blazers in a regular season game), he'll get all the recognition you guys can handle.
I've seen nothing on Sportscenter this morning if not Kobe Bryant highlight clips. I think this may be an overreaction in response to Kobe Bryant not being perceived as an MVP candidate, which I would probably argue he shouldn't be.
Yeah, I guess us Laker fans are overreacting quite a bit. You have to remember, guys like Lebron James and Dwyane Wade have never scored 60 points. Gilbert Arenas's first 60 point game was this season, so obviously they're going to get more publicity. Kobe Bryant has already scored 81 points, and 62 points in three quarters, so I guess 65 in overtime really isn't that special given it's Kobe Bryant
<div class="quote_poster">THE DREAM Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">there is no witch hunt towards Kobe....</div> But not much love either. I'm just glad he exploded (it takes more to impress people if you are Kobe though, he's got a bunch of 50 point games before the fourth quarter). Kobe's production mostly came off of perimeter shots. You just can't guard a guy like that when he gets hot on the outside; no matter what team you are. Though Kobe did trump March madness highlights on ESPN.
Why is it everyone in the Lakers board always tries to make it as if the world is out to get Kobe? Come on now I don't even think Kobe worries about his publicity as much as some people on this forum do. I doubt Kobe is really concerning himself about how many articles he is getting, as he is on how to get the Lakers to start winning some games.
<div class="quote_poster">huevonkiller Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">But not much love either. </div>his personality just doesn't do that to people. not that his personality is bad, but he just doesn't make people feel warm and fuzzy. like Barry Bonds, he isn't a guy that a lot of people feel inclined to root for. People like underdogs for the most part. That's why underdog movies do well at the box office. i admire his talent and competitiveness but i think he would not be much fun to hang out with. as far as not making a story about 65, well like durvasa said, when you've already scored 81, 65 is a NON-STORY.

Some of you guys think the whole world is out to get him. When the Lakers start winning again, he'll get his love.

Guys it really des not matter how much pulicity Kobe is getting, although i do agree if it was Wade or LeBron, every news station would be going crazy. Also, to show how fast and how much Publicity he did get, the highlights were shown on Espn News like 3 seconds after the game, and it said Breaking News: Kobe Bryat 65 points, Laker win over Blazers. But, still it does not really matter. Let the haters be.
<div class="quote_poster">hustler Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">It was placed the last out of the 5 topics, that shows no love at all.</div> It was first at one time. In fact they put the newest one at the top as they keep adding articles. Its been played on Sports Center alot, I think you guys are overreacting, but I can see how Kobe doesn't get as much love as some of the younger stars, Wade, Bron, Melo.
