Detroit Tigers’ Offense Comes up Big in Win Over the Chicago White Sox

The Detroit Tigers opened up a big division series against the, Chicago White Sox on Friday night. The Tigers were sitting three games back of the White Sox, and needing big wins to try to get back into first.

The Tigers’ offense has been stifled the last two games in Kansas City. Only scoring one run in their last 18 innings in Kansas City. The Tigers’ offense would waste no time getting to the Sox’s starter, Jake Peavy.

In the bottom of the first, Miguel Cabrera hit his 33rd home run of the year to put the Tigers on top quicky 2-0. This would just be the start of a big night at the plate for Cabrera. On the night Cabrera went 3-for-4, with a double, single, home run and two RBIs.

The Tigers and White Sox would trade runs with each other. After the quick 2-0 lead, A.J. Pierzynski hit a solo shot off of Doug Fister to make it a 2-1 one game. In the bottom of the second Andy Dirks doubled in Austin Jackson to make it a 3-1 game.
