Detroit Tigers set to Open a Pivotal Series with the Chicago White Sox

The Detroit Tigers were just swept out of Kansas City, and right now, the Tigers aren’t looking anything like a playoff contender should. The Tigers’ ace, Justin Verlander, was destroyed in game one of the series, and then the Tigers managed to score only one run in the last two games of the series against the Kansas City Royals.

The Chicago White Sox dropped two of three to the Baltimore Orioles, which gave the Tigers a chance to potentially leap the pesky White Sox and set up for a chance to pad a first place lead. But the Tigers did nothing with the White Sox losses and now find themselves three games back with a day left in August.

How big is this series? It’s monumental; it’s humongous. If the Tigers do not win of the three games against the White Sox, the Tigers could be five games out of the division and fading fast from the Wild Card.
