<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">PARIS (Ticker) - Atlanta Hawks second-year swingman Boris Diaw believes his lack of playing time could threaten his participation in the European Championships and admitted he may leave the team if the situation does not change soon.

Diaw, 22, was a 2003 first-round pick of the Hawks who had a promising rookie season but has seen his minutes decrease under new coach Mike Woodson. He made his declarations to L'Equipe, the French sports newspaper.

The former Pau Orthez star played 23 minutes in Monday's home win over Orlando but was pressed into duty due to an injury to rookie forward Josh Smith. Prior to that, Diaw had averaged fewer than seven minutes in his last nine games, scoring just six points in that span. </div>

Diaw is not a puzzle piece for our franchise. He really justs wants the attention, and he won't leave us. He knows that if he does leave us no one would pick him up anyway. I guess he will just go into one of those (Good Rookie, Bad Player) cateragories.

^I got to agree with Fire as usual. I don't see anyone picking him up. Who is he trying to scare with that? [IMG]

I have to disagree, I think Diaw is the perfect compliment player for the Hawks. He struggles shooting the ball, but he's still only 22 and has plenty of time to develop his shot. Diaw is an unselfish player who actually takes pride more in his defense than offense. A team like the Hawks should take advantage of that type of mentality and give him more time. The Hawks have enough scorers on this team to not have to worry about Diaw's shot.

Boris Diaw could be the Bruce Bowen for the Hawks. The defensive stopper capable of guarding an opponents best PG, SG, or SF. When Bowen came into the league he was also a terrible offensive player. He shot as low as 28% in his 3rd season, but slowly improved each year. Now Bowen is shooting over 40% and is deadly from 3pt land.

Unlike Bowen, Diaw can actually pass the ball and create off the dribble. So even if teams leave him open for a jumper, Diaw has the ability to take his man off the dribble and pass it off to a teammate for the open look. Diaw is also a good rebounder for a guard and has the long arms to block or alter shots.

The Hawks have a lot of tweeners on this team at the 6-8 / 6-9 size. They definitely need to make a trade and improve their PG and C position.

I just think the Hawks should showcase Diaw more to see if he actually fits this team, or to trade him away. I'd love the Lakers to get a hold of him because the Lakers perimeter defense is terrible. I'd do Cook for Diaw if I were the Laker GM.

Hey Shape I will take you up on that deal. Diaw does not fit our team. We already have Harrington, Smith and Childress taking up the SG and SF spots. We need a guy like Brain Cook who can penetrate and get some rebounds for us.

Call me and we can work the deal out. LOL

If only had the power to make it a reality. I watched the game last night and Diaw played well in it. He was also big in the clutch with that two handed jam and then hitting the 18 footer to put the Lakers away.

How about Tierre Brown in a Hawks jersey? He had a career night and the fans were actually cheering him on.

I agree Diaw, Childress, or Dontae Smith has to go. I was actually impressed with the way Dontae plays. This the first time I've seen him in a game, but he's very physical and aggressive. He's a solid defender and a nice offensive rebounder. He's still raw, but he has the tools to be an impact player in the league.
