MMAScoops is reporting that Nick Diaz will return to the UFC in early 2009 and may be the headliner for an Ultimate Fight Night event, potentially along with his younger brother Nathan.

Diaz fought for the UFC from 2004-2006 and amassed a 6-4 record. He ran into trouble following a loss to Joe 'Diesel' Riggs at UFC 57 when he confronted Riggs in the hospital after the fight and a brawl ensued. Since leaving the UFC Diaz has won six of seven fights including a submission victory over Takanori Gomi.

Diaz is just 25-years old and has improved a lot since his UFC days. His boxing and gameplanning have become very effective and his jiu-jitsu, as always, is world class.

Nate won the Pulver vs. Penn season of The Ultimate Fighter and has a 4-0 UFC record since with all four fights featured on Ultimate Fight Night cards. Nate has yet to debut on PPV.

Would be nice if Nick Diaz got signed to the UFC again. He could be a contender in the lightweight and probably welterweight classes.

I'm skeptical about this as I read about it yesterday. Usually their website graciefighter.com always has the latest news about their fighters and there is no mention on it about this. Heck it was the first site to report Elite XC was done!

I think this is pure specualtion.

You're probably right. Caesar Gracie updates that site himself and usually what he says is the unequivocal truth. I don't know much about MMAScoops, on the other hand. But it seems pretty reasonable to expect Diaz will be in the UFC again soon.

maybe they'll fight each other in the UFC one day. That would be pretty cool.

I sincerely doubt it. They're all about being a family and a team and were really pissed when Tyson Griffin left them.
