Did anyone think Brandon Roy would win Rookie of the Year in the 2006-07 season when he was drafted?
because, to be quite honest, i didn't. i expected either Aldridge, Morrison, or Thomas.

I expected it to be a race between Bargnani, Roy and Foye, based on positions and slotted time I believed they would get. I was a big Morrison fan, but I didn't think he could get his shot off as easily in the pros as college where his athleticism ultimately doomed him.

I want to go against the masses

QUOTE (CelticKing)

I expected Bargnani to win it.
This year, Durant will be the ROY.

here's a followup question: Is there anyone who thinks someone other than Durant will win the award?
i think, if given the chance, Acie Law, Mike Conley, or Nick Young have a good chance of winning it.
If Durant plays in the NBA in any way like the way he played in summer league, no way he's winning.

I think Acie Law could surprise a lot of people this year. I didn't pick Conley because I think JCN will take a lot of his minutes. I also don't know if Nick Young will start at the beginning of the season. I could see Jeff Green surprising a lot of people this year too.

QUOTE (CelticKing)

You guys think Yi has a chance?
I think Yi gets a bad rap. A lot of people think he is going to be nothing special. Personally I think he will be a decent NBA player, but I do not think he will win ROY this year. I think Durant, Green, Horford will all have significantly better years.

Everyone said he was most "NBA-ready", in a weak draft. So I had an inkling he could win it. After the summer leagues, when he was easily the best player, he became the favorite.
I thought he was the most NBA ready of all the prospects too, so I think I did pick him to win it.
I thought it would be between him and Foye.
I didn't think Bagnani would beready his first year as he turned out to be.

Roy was my choice as well
Expected Bargnani to have a rough transition season and didn't expect much out of Alrdridge, Morrison or Thomas. Williams was a joke at #5 and I didn't see anyone picked after him that would be better

Yea, he was my pick. Seemed like the most NBA ready and lucked into a situation where he really didn't have anybody challenging him for minutes. I actually wanted the Raptors to trade down and draft him (not that I'd take him over Bargnani in hindsight).
As for Durant winning ROY this season, you have to remember he will be playing for PJ Carlesimo which means you should take off 7-10 PPG from your estimate of his average.

Maybe a little bit of a questionable move there.

In all honestly, I called Roy running away with it from the beginning. He was, and still is, by far the most complete player out of the 2006 draft class.
I thoughthe would win. He was going to have the majority of the playing time at the 2 for Portland. That's usually how it works. The guy with the most playing time will generally win ROY. Although Roy did deserve it.

I thought AMMO was going to be a lot better than he was. I remember thinking that Randy Foye would have a shot at ROY.

I think Roy was the preseason favorite with Morrison a close second.
It mostly had to do with opportunity.
