Highly touted tailback Dillon Baxter can't seem to get up and running at Southern California, by his own admission. He was suspended for the team's opener for violating team rules, and Baxter admitted he hasn't really given his all since arriving from San Diego's Mission Bay High School in January. "I've been going through the motions," Baxter said, according to the Los Angeles Daily News. "Since I've gotten here I haven't given my full effort." Baxter had only one carry for a 1-yard loss in the Trojans' 32-31 loss to Washington Saturday. After a strong spring, the freshman was expected to contribute significantly at running back and kick returner. Now, he's become an afterthought in coach Lane Kiffin's schemes.
