I was watching a bit of Setanta Sport last night and there was discussion involving Murdo McLeod having been asked to go to Rangers while at Celtic. This is being touted by the Daily Record as a new story but it was known about 10 or 15 years ago and was reported then. Despite the wishes of the two hacks next to him Murdo said what I feel to be spot on. He could not have left the Celtic fans and lads that he played with to join the rival team. The hacks and Rob Mclean are trying to argue that anything goes these days and a direct transfer will at some time take place. Why? Murdo showed that despite his background of non catholic he had integrity and felt that it was a step too far in terms of personal relationships and respect for the fans who had recognised him and treated him well. Todays players do not seem to have that mindset as the drive for dosh affects their behaviour. While Celtic may or may not benefit by getting Thomson and Brown (although I am not convinced that Rangers will try to usurp that) those two players signed a contract and then reneged within a short time after that! Incredible and a kick in the teeth for Hibs fans who paid their wages. I am not saying that players should not be paid - but what I am saying is that some integrity needs to exist in the game otherwise why should I turn up to pay large amounts of money for spoiled individuals who go elsewhere at the slightest notion. I also have the suspicion that there is a hidden agenda to try and lure Maloney to Rangers under the guise of a "new age" in football and if any Celtic fans object then they are bigots.
I agree that any Celtic fans who object to 'new age' must be bigots. Now back to my sensory crystals.
