Granted I'm kind of anti-Chevy Volt for some reason, I kind of dig the Tesla Motors electric car. Was reading about it in a magazine last night, seems pretty cool. 160mile range, the prices are dropping. The price savings aren't there though, I read for the MUCH CHEAPER Nissan Leaf, gas prices would have to average $10 a gallon for the life of the car for one to break even. Still though, having no fuel lines and no emissions (no fucking smog bullshit) sounds intriguing http://www.teslamotors.com/models The first was 110k (roadster) Model S is around 50k. the next model will be for the people.
but granted i live in an apartment and don't even have a place for electricity...yeah, probably not going to get one.
I'm all for green architecture and urban planning but I'm kind of on the opposite side of things when it comes to cars. I'm more interested in the biturbo V10 RS6 Avant from Audi.
A guy I work with commutes about 20 miles each way. He says the gas savings very nearly pays for the monthly payment on his Leaf. Without the long commute and subsity, I don't think it pencils out. I think there is still a $8K government subsidy availble. Go Blazers
The Tesla looks awesome, but last time I checked, if something goes wrong you have to ship it to SoCal for repairs.
If I didn't live in an apartment it would be a good option for me as well. I have a medium length (25min) commute to work which takes up the bulk of my driving. The range of the Tesla and other electric vehicles would be more than adequate.
The Model S is something I'd be interested in. The profile looks like a sedan version of the Alfa Romeo 8C. The roadster looks like a generic Lotus.
saw one of these on the road, a fiskar karma, in boston the other day, pretty dope looking, the roof was all solar panels
We recycle, bring our own bags to the grocery store and do as much as we can to save the earth and live "green"........... but when it comes to my car....... fuck the bullshit! I keep it gangster! I love my 4.2L V8 Audi! I drive the fuck out of it! I also only put 6K miles on it a year, but I want a comfortable/powerful vehicle. Whenever I see one of those Prius or Smart cars, I swerve at 'em!
With how expensive some of the hybrid/electrics are, I think it would just be cheaper to buy a regular car with a high MPG for about half the price.
Oh man, This oil giant is straight thuggin' homes! Watch out environmentalists, he's going rogue on the Rose Garden's Green policy!
In fact instead of driving in the D position....... I'm rollin' in the sport S position today all the way to the airport!
