My question to u is do the Pistons need a big star like KObe or T-Mac kinda players and if they do will their playing style change? I think that the Pistons dont need a BIG TIME STAR because this year they didnt have any big timers xcept for Ben Wallace but people usually dont consider him a bigtimer. The pistons should stay the way they are and not try to get a guy who gets mentioned about everywhere. Joe D did a great job not getting Carmelo Anthony. If he did, the Pistons would not have won the championship, thats a gaurantee!!! He got Darko cuz he knew that the Pistons werent trying to build his team to one guy. He wanted all the players to be stars of their own juss like the good ol' 90's. The Pistons will be contenders once again this upcoming year and they can repeat without a showoff star. Now this is my opinion, I kno some of u will come and say "wut is this guy thinking" but thats my opinion. Any thoughts??
I think thats basically everyones opinion. A star would ruin them. They proved to everyone that that the convential way of building your team around a star isn't the only way to win. They proved that a team of quality players with good chemistry can win a championship, and thats all you need to say: "they dont' need a star". They've proved they don't need a star. That's the end of it.
They are coming off a title victory obviously they dont. It would not hurt them to have one though unless they lose depth or it messes with team chemistry it can only make them better imo they dont need one of the players they currently have or more will develope into there superstar. Tayshawn Prince will be a future all star imo and in the opinion of his former coach when he said that all the teams that passed him up in the draft will regret it because he will be a multy time all star as well as having probable a 15 year nba career at least. Hamilton is a under rated player who averages 20 points that is what VC averaged the season before this one yet everyone calls him a superstar and doesnt do the same for rip hamilton. Then big ben there are jerseys of him all over the world that proves he is a super star he just doesnt get the recognition he deserves because he doesnt have great offensive numbers. Then Billups who won the finals mvp and him and hamilton last season were one of the highest scoring nba back courts in the league. He is a great three point shooter and is mutly dementional in his game. He will be a super star.
I consider Rip, Ben, Rasheed and even Billups stars. Just aren't marketable stars that the media love to look at, No real highlight reels. Whats the use of having superstars If you can't win a championship? team play over a one man team works everytime.
No way, a star would ruin this squad. I think they are a really good over average players that when they come together they overcome any obstacle in front of them. This is what makes the whole organization and the team one big star. Right now the Pistons do not have to do anything but get Darko and Delfino adjusted to the game. And get Antonio back to a healthy state.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Allnet:</div><div class="quote_post">Whats the use of having superstars If you can't win a championship? team play over a one man team works everytime.</div> Very true. Look at teams like Boston and Orlando with T-Mac. They had superstars in Pierce and McGrady, but neither of these stars led their teams to success when they were the primary focuses on offense. Teams like Detroit and Memphis, for example, were able to win because all five players on the floor are able to score. While none of their players are capable of 30 point games each night, all of them are capable of 10 on a consistent. That is why teams like Detroit are successful while ones like Boston are only perenniel playoff teams.

Not all 5 players on the court are able to put points on the board on a consistant bases, but they don't need to because of detriot bad boy defense. They can survive on a 85 pts/game avg which cud b done with only 4 players scoring just a lil above 10 pts. obviously billups, ri[, and sheed score much more than that, and big ben is just about on the border of 10 pts, so who cares about offense, they cn win another title with 4 ppl scoring rather than 5..

Chauncey has proven last season and the start of this season he can get you 30 a night. Same with Rip and the rest of these guys. They can score, but the thing is you have to point out a weakness before you really want to get a player involved. Thats why Larry Brown wants everyone to get touches to see whos the most effcient scorer. Rip has the advantage against teams who played zone while Tayshaun and Chauncey can attack man to man defense very well. Ben and Rasheed Wallace can handle their own in any type of defense. Thats the thing with Detroit. They can harm you either way. Moving the ball is the key.
Im glad to see that u all agree with me but its true. T-Mac is no where even close to winning a championship yet. Now he gots Yao on his team but it will still take more then that for them to win a championship.
Why would they need a star if they can win with out one?To me a star would ruin their team and mess up the the chemistry.
if they already won a championship without one then why would they need one now. they're fine without one and they probably wont need one until they want to start fresh and build the franchise around one guy.
the pistons won with team work, the lakers lost by stars. Why would they need one? No way, if they get a real star like tracy or something their future is ruined. stars are generally too selfish, unless its a passing star
no way the pistons need a star. All teams have offensive stars but the pistons have defensive stars. A star like kobe or t-mac it would ruin them because he would try to do everything like he did with orlando and not let big ben, chaunc, rip or 'sheed do anything
Why fix it if it works? Their lineup worked there is no need for a star...and they have a couple in Ben Wallace and Rip..they won a championship with what they had..they beat a team with 2 stars (the othere 2 were ineffective)
[Stephen A. Smith] <font size="6">THE DETROIT PISTONS WON THE 2003-04 NBA CHAMPIONSHIP</font> [/Stephen A. Smith] Ahem.
Well, i honesty don't think the Pistons need a big STAR or anything. I say that because in my eyes, if you look at the team you'll see STARS like Big Ben, Chauncey, Rip, and bascially most of tha whole crew. Plus i think that Detroit plays team ball, and look what that got them............................. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A CHAMPIONSHIP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
they definitely dont need to fix anything...by signing McDyess and re-signing Wallace, and if they re-sign Hunter and Ham, they should be in great shape...
