Let's face it. Hanks injury isn't ending but it could cause him a bit of breathing problems and who knows if he will be able to regain form in time for the playoffs.. Now talbot has answered the call, we've won 3 in a row. But with him in net I sense a little shakyness and we are playing a much more wide open game. Now one guy I've always thought was underrated was ondrej pavelec from winipeg. The guy is having a real bad season but he's a game for what usually is a terrible team. It's clear that hutchinson kid is going to be the starter from here on out. Problem is his cap hit is lot of money for more years then we need him. okay so other ideas... John berneir or reimer from toronto. Two guys who can play and get ZERO help from their team. Seems like toronto is big on keeping bernier but he is a free agent at the end of the season, right price can get a solid goalie. Reimer was supposed to be the goalie of the future but has struggled. then again the leafs are fucking awful I don't even think Hank would have good numbers. but reimer has one more year left at 2 mil. I think cash and second rounder would do the job for either of them. other guys who can play; anton khobudin (carolina) - horrible year, one more season left at 2.5 million but the kid showed signs of life in boston Ray emery (philly) - would cost us nothing cap wise and hes a veteran who comes up big in big spots. Anti neimi (san jose). here's why this is a must do if the sharks would unload him. because the best one who is potentially available. NOW HERE'S A TRADE THAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN. GLEN HAS REALIZED THAT WHAT WE NEED IS A RIGHT HANDED SNIPER WHO CAN SHOOT ONE TIMERS ON THE POWER PLAY. instead of mortaging our cap and future for kessel. who i think is a phenomenal player and guranteed 30+ goal every season. ive said it a million times. either blake wheeler or byran little. little is cheaper then wheeler and for less years but both guys arent out of their primes yet. so what do you think would be able to pry them out of winnipegs hands. I say kreider and a first can get them. they're in the playoff picture and unloaded that over rated bum kane for an excellent package. i think kreider and a 1st gets little i think wheeler would take like fast hunwick and krieder or dusclair. just my two cents.. because im going to say it til the deadline that we need right handed shot.
That is not a trade that needs to happen because of 2 reasons. One, there is probably no chance in hell that the Jets are trading either one of those players so it's pointless bringing it up. Two, Wheeler has a 5.8 million cap hit to 18/19. Little has a 4.75 cap hit to 17-18. This team has cap issues. You're out of your mind if you trade Kreider as well. You don't trade the best playoff player on this team behind Lundqvist. Zuccarello has shown to me after sucking early that he is the guy the Rangers need to keep. Sadly, MSL will be the one they don't bring back. Hopefully, he has one more playoff in him.
You do realize the Jets are desperate to make the playoffs right? They are not dealing their best players. That Kane deal for them was a huge upgrade now with Kane out for the season. So move on from the Jets, they are NOT dealing core players. They are crazy focused on making the playoffs. Right handed shooter...
Enough with the right handed shooter nonsense. The team needs a center that can win more than 47% of his draws. At least be respectable. Or a wing that can win draws better than that ass clown in the dot Stepan and can provide the team with some size.
I'd play Cam over any of the aforementioned, lottery odds unlikely that any of them would put better numbers than 4-1-1 up. Hank will be getting reevaluated sometime this week so the goaltending situation is still unknown. The positive I saw was Hank was at last night's game. If he had a serious vascular problem the Rangers medical/training staff wouldn't let him fly out and back but then again we are talking about the Rangers medical/training staff.
I liked Vermette's play last night and he seems to be in trade talks. Unless Glen's been spending his spare time working in a meth lab without a mask CK is not getting traded.
If we continue to play out of it teams I think those guys would be 4-1-1 as well. But I agree about dealing for a goalie. As I said earlier this week I would not do it if it limits our ability one drop to add the forward we need much more than a goalie. Bottom line is either Hank is back by April or we are not winning a cup anyway, so adding another goalie doesn't do much for us IMO. Hank or bust in goal.
Vermette would be a nice add, but can we afford him cap wise and return wise. Start with a 2nd and maybe McIlrath. What else? Include Stemp for the cap? Maybe a 4th or 5th round pick? Another solid but not great prospect? No doubt from a pure fit POV Vermette would be great for us.
Due to the cap teams are limited at what they can do. It's not like the old days when you could move or aquire anyone to gear up for the playoffs. You have to make smart moves that don't hurt your chances. Callahan for St. Louis worked out well for the playoff run.
I still say give up both low 2nds plus a prospect like Tambellini who should be an NHL 3rd liner from what it looks like. They won't want Mcilrath but if need be by all means throw his bust-ridden self in too. Vermette i believe for this team can be a difference maker with his skill and i guess hes solid on FO's. Santorelli dosen't change much for them. Either way i'm not sure who they're taking out of the C spot, are they moving Hayes or Moore to wing? Unless the Coyotes are hardfast about getting a 1st Sather has enough to get AV. Salary wise they may need to include J. Moore. Moore, 2nd, Tambellini is a solid deal.
The only reason they may at some point need someone is if HL needs to be out until April. Talbot probably couldn't play 30 straight. Maybe if they gain a little more separation in the standings they let Skapski play a few games. How many more right now can Cam play in a row, maybe another 5-6?
Stop..that's the type of deal it's going to take Dump. How many Tambellini Kristo type prospects do we need to hang onto, there's only so many spots, so turna few into help for the current club. I bet somebody even beats that deal for Maloney.
isle game will be real test for Cam. if he comes up big, lessens need for trade even if Hank out longer. If he gets lit up then of course a trade for a goalie more likely. This will be huge for Cam's career going forward. If he can't control rebounds it will be a long night for Cam and the Rangers. Isles number one in goals in the NHL. Let's go Cam.
I would not deal J. Moore if I could keep him. I like that we have Hunwick and Moore for # 6. Unless we can swing another deal to add another 3rd pair dman to split with Hunwick I keep Moore. As for C, they would move Hayes to wing on the 3rd line. Why would they move D. Moore our best faceoff man, and a perfect 4th line C? Vermette would C the 3rd line and Hayes would move to RW. Hags on LW. Miller and Fast and Stemp rotate on the 4th line with Moore at C. Send Glass down to save the equal of 900 K pro-rated to make room for Vermette. And maybe Zona can keep a little of his pro-rated cap hit so we can afford it. Vermette, Stewart, or Winnik...I want 1 of these 3.
God forbid Hank is out for the year there's no goalie to get that's going to matter. My initial thought would be could Cam handle it and did they need a veteran for the short term. Even there they're limited with the cap relief you get under the injured reserve rules. If Hank was out for the playoffs it would be on Cam to do what he could.
That's my point Mess. I just don't see upside to using an asset or cap space to add a goalie if it AT ALL hinders our ability to add the forward we need much more. Either Hank is back or he is not. If he is not, no vet goalie we are going to add will help us anyway, so what is the point. Play the kid at Buffalo on Friday and see what he does. If no good sign a vet for very cheap to play a couple of games until Hank is back in March some time. Seeing Hank flying West with the team is good. I am hopeful that next week when he is checked again things will look good. If they were very concerned I am not sure if flying all over the country would be smart, but what do I know about injuries.
