It's year three for Rivers and Paul Pierce isn't getting any younger. A playoff berth is a must.

    2. Isiah Thomas, New York
Just how owner James Dolan will define improvement remains to be seen, but Thomas has to show he can win with the talent he assembled.

    3. Eddie Jordan, Washington
Yes, Jordan signed a three-year extension but GM Ernie Grunfeld won't be afraid to pull the plug if the defense doesn't improve.

    4. Jerry Sloan, Utah
Let's be clear: Larry Miller will never fire Sloan. But another year of mediocrity and Sloan will show himself the door.

    5. Jeff Van Gundy, Houston
The talent is there. Van Gundy has to prove he can win outside of New York.

    6. Sam Mitchell, Toronto
Don't be surprised if Mitchell is the first one to go. A slow start by the Raptors will give Bryan Colangelo all the cover he needs to bring in Phoenix assistant Marc Iavaroni.

Is this list in order? I wouldn't put Rivers at the top of the list. New York has a lot more problems than Boston does. And I wouldn't even put Jordan on there, the Wizards had 5th seed in the playoffs last year.

I'm predicting maybe half these teams could or should make the playoffs this year. What more could you ask for?

I think Doc deserves exactly the spot he got if it were in order. He's got more pressure on him to make this potential work than anything or anyone else. He's been simply terrible as a motivator and a tactician and deserves whatever he gets. I hope he quits all by his lonesome and soon.

So your saying that Doc should get fired before Isiah? I'll admit this is a defining year for Doc. It will make or break his career as Celt head coach, but your say that he is worse than Isiah, who even put togther the current Knicks team. The Celts have a chance to fall further from grace, but the Knicks pretty much have no chance to make the playoffs. They need a miracle.
