Love him, but the man could use some big game experience. He made some serious gaffs in last year's playoffs. Minutes mostly, he just needs some more experience when it counts.
I love Doc as a coach. He knows how to manage players and coach them. I'm looking forward to next season to see how the new players react to Coach Rivers.
Doc is probably the best coach in the league at developing young players. If it weren't for that, I'd hate him. Most of the in-game decisions he makes are puzzling and his rotations are wacky. I agree that he needs more big game experience.
I think he`s a perfect fit for Boston right now. He knows how to attend to his team, but I do think he needs more experience for the post season. Has ever past the second round?

I think Doc was a good selection, I especially liked the fact that he put Paul Pierce back into his place a couple of times by benching him...I mean, he is a star and everything, but its good that Doc treated him like any other player and punished him for not being proffessional...although, I hope to hear more on this as I did not get to watch many Celtics games at all this past year (in Aus, the only way to watch NBA is if you have cable Internet, then you only get ESPN, and they showed NO Celtics, hehe)...

Pierce seems to think that the running game doesn't suit the team's previous style of play and was a touch unprofessional in the press. It was a close game against the Magic near to the end of the first month of the season, a game which Boston ended up losing, that we first saw flashes of this. Doc yelled at Paul from the bench when he came up walking while the rest of his team hustled on a few transition plays, and actually called a timeout to replace him with Tony Allen. When Pierce arrived at the bench, Doc had a few choice words for him, and sat him rather animatedly on the end of the bench. Pierce didn't return to the game after a wait, and the Boston press leapt upon him once the game ended. Pierce claimed it was no big deal, but Doc was more than blunt with the press and said he didn't approve of Paul's dogging it. After that, we saw a few games where the two of them seemed lodged in a silent battle, where one would give a little leway, and the other (I think we know who I'm referring to) would abuse the right. Doc did try to light a fire under him on more than one occasion, and sometimes it worked, other times it did. Doc is a fine motivational coach, and his treatment of Pierce is a case in point. Pierce could be tempermental last season, as he has been known to be, but who can blame him? He's been spinning his wheels for a while now, and only now is being rewarded with some real recognition, nevermind actual wins. Aside from that, Doc is well known for being a capable teacher, and above all else known for getting the most out of seemingly overrated (or under-represented) teams. Keep an ear out for this in the forum in the coming season, as it may rear its ugly head again, thanks to the front office's treatment of Pierce, what with bandying his name about in trade rumors, and insisting there was no truth to those rumors, indicating someone somewhere in these dealings is lying. That ought to bring you mostly up to speed, maybe someone has something else they can contribute that I may have glazed over.
