Brees is scheduled to become a free agent, as Chargers general manager A.J. Smith has said the team has concerns over Brees' surgery which have limited the teams' financial commitment. Andrews' report said that Brees could be allowed to participate in a team's minicamp in May. "At this point, he is eight plus weeks post-op and is ahead of schedule relative to his healing process and recovery," Andrews said.</div>And here's an ESPN article.http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2351620
If the Charger's want any shot at being a SB contender this year they need to pony up the cash to get Brees back in a Chargers uni, they have the cap space.
