I saw some other pics where he did not look like he was in shape. Has anyone read if he was out here this summer working out with the team?
I dont think J-Rich is out of shape. From what I've heard he was at the team's training facilities alot toward the end of the summer and there is another pic where Jason is making adifficult layup from under the rim. Plus the guy is naturally an athletic freak so it shouldnt take him long to adjust if he is out of shape.
It could have been Pietrus wacked him in the face and he is just trying to get his wits about him, look how Mickael is looking at him like "sorry I nailed you, are you ok?"

I think he is saying "D@mn homie, am I wearing you out? Maybe I will take your starting spot."
Nah, with a season like this coming up theres no way he'd be lazy. He's a hard working man that improves every season.

It's just a picture of a split second. Hard to tell. When someone is hunched over it definitely looks like they're out of breath. It means a.) he's out of shape b.) he's working harder than everyone else. c.) he's guarding Monta Ellis d.) he's guarding Pietrus e.) any combo of a,b,c,d He ain't lazy. He's a hard worker. But he's had some bouts where he got tired on the end of back to back nights. Maybe he just naturally lacks stamina.
"Although lighting up the scoreboard has been one of his strengths during the early stages of his career, Richardson understands that he needs to improve in other facets of the game, too. And, it looks as though he has since the end of last season. During the first four days of training camp, the former Michigan State star has played stellar defense in team scrimmages and has been a blanket on Mickael Pietrus. Richardson's energy on the defensive end of the court has been very apparent, including during one specific battle on Friday when he blocked one of Pietrus' jump shots." Maybe this might explain it. Defense is much more tiring than offense.

If Richardson does have this "blanket"like defense it wont be so hard if we lose Pietrus. If Jason can slow down the better SGs on the league I will be very excited....
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting AnimeFANatic:</div><div class="quote_post">Well I'd want Pietrus at SF. So we'd have 2 high flying defensive stoppers </div> Agreed, but I'd say right now Pietrus as a 50% cance of staying with us once his contract is up (thats actually a generous figure considering our cap situation and Mullin's infatuation with Dun). I really like Pietrus on our team because I believe that a lockdown perimeter defender is key for success in the playoffs. If J-Rich can contain Kobe, Ray Allen, Ginobli, T-Mac, etc then Pietrus is somewhat expendable, Monta could step in as a combo guard off the bench if Pietrus does go in a few seasons. I'm not saying that we should ship Pietrus the first chance we get but if Jason has improved his defense then it will help to fill in for the qualities we would stand to lost from Pietrus.
I remember when nobody was stopping Michael Redd, we had to throw Pietrus in on him. I'd like to have Pietrus in there though because when Richardson isn't connecting, you bet Pietrus will get in there and start scoring in huge bunches or at least get sent to the line. I like the guy that is going to hustle and play with energy and get fouled. Pietrus is our Brian Cardinal and if we lose him, that figures. There are guys like Boykins, Cardinal, and Pietrus that do things that come at a good time.
