I was wondering does Mercer have enuff trade value to give us at least a little frontcourt help in return. Mercer has spent the last month on IR, with an injuried leg. But he had an ok start to the year averaging close to 10ppg, but he mainly played well during the preseason. So I was wondering could Mercer & maybe a 2nd rounder get us a solid frontcourt guy, nothing special just a guy along the frontline who can score about 7-8ppg & give us about 7-8 rebounds a game. Somebody like David West or Lee Nailon from New Orleans etc. either one of those guys would be solid for us at the forward spot imo. Their are a few others around the league...

We dont really need Mercer now, Jefferson & Carter are going to be in the game almost 40 minutes a pieace at the 2 &3 spot. And Buford now that the Nets are turning into an up & down team, should be that 3rd wing player we need to give us 15minutes. That makes Mercer expendable. So I was wondering do you guys think he has any trade value? He was one of the names that came up when Denver was looking for Voshun Lenard's replacment? Fransico Elson is decent...

I think Ron still has some trade value left, for teams that can take a risk with an injury. Maybe a team like Detroit, with their many frontcourt guys, would want him. He could be that backup SG for Rip that they need, since Darvin Ham and Carlos Delfino don't really make the cut. Derrick Coleman would be nice in return for Mercer and maybe a pick or two.

I doubt he does. I have no idea who he could bring back. Francisco Elson? I think the Nets should start using that 10M Exception that they still have for a trade. Perhaps they can get someone like Tony Battie? Unfortunately, we could probably get someone with a huge contract like Maurice Taylor with that. Ideally, I'd hope for Lorenzen Wright or possibly Chris Wilcox if Sterling is really commited to cutting cost.

I can't imagine Mercer being traded. Mercer is injured and teams might be unwilling to get a player that has not proved him-self after playing in San Antonio. I think that Buford along with a second round pick can be traded for some big body.

Right now? I highly doubt it. He can be traded, but for someone who wouldn't make any difference. He was wanted before because he was a 20ppg scorer. But what does he have now? A 10ppg in a course of a few games, an injury and a lousy defense.
