Does The Word "Soccer" Bother Non-Americans? Does the fact that Americans call it soccer bother you at all or would you like us to change it? Apathetic about the issue?
Re: Does The Word "Soccer" Bother Non-Americans? It gets annoying but it's not a major issue, really. I'm spoken to a few Americans and mentioned football and they instantly think about NFL, not the REAL football that pre-dates NFL by about a hundred years.
Re: Does The Word "Soccer" Bother Non-Americans? yer...annoying but i wouldnt make a big deal about it. I prefer to call it football but wen people have another football code, then u have to call it soccer to them so u dont have to repeatedly explain which sport u are talking about.
Re: Does The Word "Soccer" Bother Non-Americans? I live in Canada, and I call it football, my friends have gotten used to it. Although most of them are of European origin and we all play football anyway.
Re: Does The Word "Soccer" Bother Non-Americans? Its FOOTBALL, end of story. If you want to speak English then speak it properly. Why USA have to be different puzzles me. In American Foootball you hardly kick the ball at all.
Re: Does The Word "Soccer" Bother Non-Americans? i hate american football. Its such a pussy sport. They have to bloody cover themselves in padding. Rugby is much more manly. GO THE WALLABIES!!
Re: Does The Word "Soccer" Bother Non-Americans? It annoys me when Americans call their "football" "real football", it's not, American Football shouldn't even be called football, it should be called "padded-up rugby". But yeah, it's not soccer, its football!
Re: Does The Word "Soccer" Bother Non-Americans? Only bothers me if they act like they know waht they're talking about : D
Re: Does The Word "Soccer" Bother Non-Americans? Does my head in even on google images you type in football and it comes out with NFL everywhere! Football isnt American Football!!!!
