Not finding being a Blazers fan very rewarding these days. Help me out. (And please, spare me your preachy "if you don't like it, hop on some bandwagon elsewhere" posts, for God's sake. Believe me, if I could've, I would've but these fucking Blazers have their hooks in me good.) What are your reasons for continuing to check in to these blowouts? I mean, the guys seem nice, at least.
Wondering about what we'll get in the next draft. But really, if I wasn't running the predictions game, I'd probably be mostly checked out for this season. Sure, I'd check the scores but zero expectations and no real interest in watching them get beat game-after-game and generally not even look good getting their butts kicked.
I look to see how Scoot has done, who is hurt, and how many shots Grant jacked up. It's not especially fun or fulfilling, but it is what it is until the lottery is set.
We're Kevin Costner after he destroyed his farm. We just kidnapped Darth Vader, and have embarked on a long road trip looking for magic. Once the Blazers find enough Moonlight Graham's, the ghosts of bad basketball will turn into a spectacular sight to see. Then everyone can enjoy the action without choking on a hot dog.
You never have to watch the Blazers lose again! http://www.sportstwo.com/threads/open-ai-sora.383501/
I like watching our young players to see their progress. That can be frustrating when Jerami and Ant are getting too much usage. However Scoot is getting decent usage and has been trending the right direction most of the season. Toumani and Jabari are fun to watch and they get a lot of PT. Both Reath and Badji are exciting for different reasons and one of them seems to get a lot of PT every game. I’d like to see more of Murray and I think we’ll get to.
Your thread title is appropriate. It feels like this franchise is stuck sailing in the horse latitudes…marking time and going nowhere. I usually end up watching about half of most games just to see how the young guys are progressing. I’m a fifty-plus year fan and I have seen my share of ugly rebuilds, but Joe had better find something more exciting than this mess if he wants to hold my attention for another season.
I like to look for development from all players. I keep watching in hopes of seeing development from the young players. How I’ve approached this season is very similar to the Telfair and Webster days.
Because being a Blazers fan is part of my identity. When most kids were watching cartoons, I was more interested in the 7 o clock Blazers game. There will always be a certain amount of giddiness about a game day, no matter how badly they suck.
True, but I can't help also wishing we could fast forward about 4 months. I'm more excited for who they get in the next draft than I am for these next two months of games. Maybe Scoot starting can adjust that. Maybe Sharpe coming back healthy after his surgery can restore intrigue. But aside from that, this last 1/3 of the season feels a lot like garbage time in a blowout. Sure, it's Blazer basketball, but it's not really what we came for.
Hey @Rastapopoulos, you read my mind! I am a longtime season ticket holder and for the first time I am really considering not renewing. I mean, ever since say, Covid, this team hasn't been all that much fun to watch. Sure, watching the kids develop is interesting, but that only takes you so far. And this is what it's going to be for the next few years too.
quick memo to my fellow Blazer fans... Blazers have been through worse. Years back, I watched Portland oozing admiration towards Zach Randolph, while ignoring his horribly disturbing dog fighting racket with Qyntel Woods. ZeBo got caught with guns, got felony charges dropped after assaulting a stripper, sucker punched his own teammate, plus ZeBo's other bad things i'm not aware of. All the while "Blazers media" told us how impressive Team Captain Zach Randolph's double doubles were, even though the Blazers got their doors blown off almost every game. The tail end of Jail Blazers era was absolutely brutal on fans. I would go to games on occasion, because Blazer fans couldn't stand the players on the team. They'd hand me good tickets for free. The giant and relatively new Rose Garden arena had maaaybe... 3000 fans in attendence. Food & beverages was dirt cheap. Portland was spending a bunch of money on posters and bobbleheads etc. They were trying anything to keep Blazer fans engaged. This current Blazers team is in reset mode. They get stomped by stronger opponents, they go through rough shooting patches, and the defense gets pummeled because there's too many players that are only somewhat good at offense. Portland is an unorginized mess. The talent has been improperly distributed. A bunch of guys out with injury obviously doesn't help the excitement factor. Losing for better rookies sucks. Though it did work to dislodge the before mentioned Jail Blazers era. Drafting Brandon Roy & LaMarcus Aldridge brought a much needed fresh perspective. A big dose of hopium. Right now we're looking for the little steps that will make this squad more exciting. The Blazers media overdoses us with positivity before/during/after losing efforts, which can be extremely annoying. But i can indeed root for this team, because they're good kids. Not wannabe thugs with million dollar Blazer contracts.
