UFC Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz has undergone a second ACL surgery after results from the first surgery and subsequent rehabilitation were not successful. Cruz has been out of action since beating Demetrious Johnson in October of 2011. He was scheduled to fight Urijah Faber after the completion of The Ultimate Fighter Live but in May was forced to withdraw due to the initial ACL tear. With an additional 6-9 months on the shelf from this latest surgery, Cruz could be out of action until late 2013 or early 2014. In the meantime the UFC has moved forward with Interim champion Renan Barao who is being forced to defend his belt in the coming months despite stating his intention to wait for Cruz.
