<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Don Chaney could resurface on the shores of Lake Erie. With the Cavaliers firing assistant coach Bob Donewald yesterday, Chaney has emerged as a top candidate, with the chance of being reunited with his former Celtic buddy Paul Silas. The search process hasn't begun, a source said, but Silas is looking for a veteran assistant. Silas told The Post on Feb. 22 that he would consider hiring the former Knick head coach in the summer, saying he'd be a good influence on LeBron James. Donewald did most of his work with James. "It's certainly a possibility," Silas told The Post before LeBron's Garden debut. "[Don's] a special man." </div> Full Article: http://www.nypost.com/sports/16680.htm
Don Chaney would be a tremendous upgrade to the Cavaliers coaching squad. We need someone like him, someone who has been a head coach before and someone who knows how to develop players. Our past staff just wasn't getting the job done. Silias definatly needs help and Chaney would be the perfect person to do it.
I'm not critcizing but this news came out a week ago and was discussed then. It's not official either, it's just a report of the possibility of Chaney being hired. It would be a definite help to bring in a veteran, experiences assistant. Any upgrade of Silas' staff would be an improvement.

It can't help but be an upgrade given the moronic assistants he had last year, but believe me, Chaney is no X and O man either. My lasting recollection of his usual facial expression during the heat of a game is of one of panic. He does seem like a nice man, and that's something.
I think Chaney did not get a chance with the Knicks at all. Once Marbury came he was on his way out the door. I think he would be great addition on the Cavs bench, if he was good enough to be a head coach for the Knicks, I don't see why he wouldn't be a good assistant for the Cavs.
