WBC/WBO bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire (26-1, 18 KO’s) is reportedly close to signing a three year contract with Top Rank Promotions that will take Donaire to his 31st birthday. Donaire had been having problems with Top Rank after briefly signing a contract with Golden Boy Promotions because Donaire was unhappy with them. There still isn’t an opponent picked out for Donaire’s next fight but he’s got to find someone pretty quickly or else the World Boxing Council will be stripping him of his WBC belt because Donaire has yet to defend the title after winning it off of Fernando Montiel in February.
