<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">INDIANAPOLIS -- Ron Artest wants to be traded, and Indiana Pacers CEO Donnie Walsh said Monday he'll try to do that. Artest said in interviews with various media over the weekend that he wants to be traded, that his past haunts him in Indianapolis and that the team would be better off without him. Walsh said he didn't like Artest speaking to the media first, but would try to trade him. Walsh said Artest's desire to move on wasn't the only factor in the team's decision. "This is kind of the last straw of a lot of issues, and it's at the point where we should look for a trade," Walsh said. He said Artest remains on the roster but is inactive with pay for the rest of the week. Artest missed 73 games and all the playoffs last season after his suspension by the NBA for triggering the brawl with fans in Detroit.</div> Source Artest will be listed as inactive until the team can trade him.
hm i think artest made a bad mistake by asking for a trade he could have honestly helped Pacers to a championship however--i would love to see Artest in NY
Intersting, but a change of scenery for Artest could be something that will make him a better player. What teams will be willing to take him though?
A change of scenery will definitely make him play better for a while. However, I think eventually he'll think of a way to get the attention back on him. He doesn't seem to want or be able to get rid of that spotlight.
honestly the knicks to me are the only real choice because any other teams would have heard when artest said, that as soon as he became a free agent he would sign with new york what gm would trade for a player that was waiting to leave as soon as his contract is up. this is a match made in heaven cause the knicks have a few player that the pacers could really use. for instant their five centres. the pacers could definately use a low post threat to put next to o'neal.ofcourse by this i mean either frye or curry dont even think of james!and the thing the knicks need the most is a true sf which coincedentaly artest is. pacers lineup knicks lineup C-Foster,Frye C-curry,james Pf-o'neal,croshere Pf-davis,taylor Sf-jackson,granger Sf-artest,ariza Sg-crawford,jones Sg-Qrich,nate Pg-tinsley,saunas Pg-starbury,johnson the trade by the way would look like this:indy sends artest,Aj to the knicks for Frye and craw the knicks get rid of craw who larry is not high on and get a true pg in aj how ever old he is.
What makes you think LB isn't high on Crawford? He's been playing very well coming off the bench and is buying into LB's system. He's been one of their better players down the stretch, I don't see him going in this deal.
Indiana has no other choice but to trade him, but I dont just place the blame on Artest here...yea they stuck with him through thick and thin, but why did they let the Peja-Artest rumors leak if they wanted to stick by him? They didnt exactly vehemently deny them...
