Boston has the tie breaker for now.

If Boston wins tomorrow, they get the 1/2 game back.

The Bulls really aren't tied for the #1 see though. :-) It's all about the loss column, as we all know, and the Bulls have to beat, not tie Boston on the season. I'm much more hopeful that the Bulls will overtake Boston than I was a week ago, but we shouldn't minimize how difficult it is to pick up two games when there are only 17 games left on the season.

Well we are tied. We have played two games more than Boston, so thats 1 game in the standings. Similar to MLB. Ya, they have one less loss, true. But you have to count the games played as well.

Two games? I look at it this way, one game and beat them. Then we will be tied. April 7 at the UC, big game!!

I wonder if Boston was wise in trading Perkins at this time?

ok lets see a show of hands, how many of us predicted we would be tied(and for those of you saying we are not tied) or seriously contending for the #1 seed in the East on March 13, 2011 when our only major FA signing in the off season was Carlos Boozer and he has been hurt 21 games and counting! And Noah missed over 1/2 of the games this season!

    Who called it? LOL

As you may recall, one of my first threads here when I joined in January was a similar "who'da thunk it?" And that was when they were 4th in the conference.

My assessment of this team has consistently lagged behind the reality...they just keep surprising me.

    Which is very cool.

Much better this way than having my assessment always exceeding the reality, which was the norm from 1998 on.

If both teams go .500 the rest of the way, it's still a tie.

And Rose has to be MVP!

we have a game coming up in april or late march right? that will decide the #1..in some ways I think you guys should take it that way we don't see you until Ecf and then beat you at your home. ;)

It's going to be a hell of series if the Bulls do end up playing the Celtics. I hope it happens.

Very sporting of you, CK. Thanks and on behalf of Bulls Nation, I accept (the home court advantage part).

A lot of Bulls fans hate the Celts and Garnett particular. Not me. The team and Garnett play great basketball and I love watching great basketball. I'd love to meet you guys in the ECF.

You didnt need home court last season to come out of the east!

Would love to play you in the ECF! Neither team would score over 80-85 points a game because of the defense. Classic, real playoff basketball.

That would be something, plus your coach knowing our players etc, it's destined to be one of our two teams in the finals. :D

The match ups are just gorgeous: Rose v. Rondo (yes please); Noah v. Garnett (yes please); Deng v. Pierce (yes please); Boozer v. Glen Davis (yes please); Ray Allen-Keith Bogans . . . not so much.

That's more of a sitcom than a match up.

No, upon further thought, it would probably be a reality TV show. Shaq would be the ham who instantly locked up his place in the finals because he was funny on camera. Asik would be the totally earnest participant who had no idea that he was supposed to act differently in front of the cameras.

Anyway, with the Celtics loss tonight to the Nets, the Bulls control their own destiny. If they win out, which isn't going to happen, they would lock up the first seed. Regardless, it's nice that the Bulls are able to chart what happens here on out
