With all of the talk surrounding Darko and Grant, I forgot that Keyon Dooling, Travis Diener and Bo Outlaw were free agents as well. Dooling and Outlaw unrestricted and Diener is restricted. I was wondering whether or not you guys think we should resign them. I think Dooling should be resigned (as long as it's a reasonable deal) and Outlaw should be offered a position with team such as big man coach or something because I don't think he's capable of playing significant minutes anymore and there's no point in wasting a roster spot just because he is a good guy and helps out the younger guys; that's what coaches are for. Keyon played well in the playoffs and is a much better backup than Carlos Arroyo. It also seems like Dooling developed a little bit of a jump shot last season that he lacked in previous seasons. I think we should hold onto him since Jameer and Redick need to be in the game with a defensive slasher and he fits that role. As far as Travis goes, that's a tough one. I like him a lot more than Arroyo and I think he should be given a chance but it sounds like he wants to sign somewhere else. I read an article in the Sentinel about saying he hopes to be playing somewhere next season where he is given a chance. He is sick of sitting at the end of our bench (I can't blame him) and he wants a change of scenery. Knowing the Magic, he will probably go to some time and turn into a Steve Nash type player making all of us fans yank our hair out. So what do you guys think, should any or all of these guys be resigned?
Dooling has a player option, so he's not really a FA. I doubt he could get more than the 3.6 mil a year to be a backup PG/SG. That's about as much as he's worth. I think he will pick up his player option for next year and we keep him. Bo and Diener are both FA, after all is said and done and if we wouldn't mind getting a veteran presence, I wouldn't be too opposed to resigning Bo Outlaw for a 1 or 2 year min deal. He is a great locker room guy, honestly I wouldn't mind making him and Darrell Armstrong assistants when their careers end. I have always liked Diener, but unless we get rid of the logjam at PG, he is better off going somewhere else.
We should keep Bo for locker room presence more than anything. He is good for a couple mins here and there... you know he is gonna hustle every second he is out there.
