One thing for sure--- the Mets are loaded with excellent young pitching and if they fail to make a playoff spot this year, the rest of the N.L. East is going to have their hands full next year.

Degrom, Wheeler and Harvey could very well be the best young starting trio in MLB next year and Gee and Niese would certainly be welcomed into just about any other pitching staff. Wow.

Degrom & Chase Whitley were rookies in opposition during the Mets Series this year. Degrom has done pretty well for himself and yep the Mets look like they could have a good crop if pitchers next season.

Well so much for that, Mets lose the no-no in the top of the 7th & Peavy totally loses it in the bottom of the 7th as the wheels completely fall off & the Mets score 4.

degrom is excellent - he works fast, throws consistently hard, throws breaking balls in the right places and HE THROWS STRIKES with very few walks.

Which brings to mind, allow to put in my obligatory opinion on those in charge of scouting and development for the Yankee farm system.

THEY SHOULD BE RELIEVED OF THEIR DUTIES.
Their record has been disgraceful, especially when it come to starting pitching. Almost scandalous.
    Get rid of these bums.

The pitching is going to be very good going forward but the Mets need a big bat or two because one of these days someone is going to realize that David Wright is one of the most over rated players in baseball.

One of these days, very soon, the Mets WILL find a way to add a player or two and be able to score 4 or so runs a game and then their park will begin to fill up and we will be watching them in the post season.

They already have a young homegrown player (Duda), who has as many home runs as any player on the Yankees.
The pieces will begin to fill in. By the way, those in charge of scouting and development for the Yankee farm system should be fired.

You've to remember also the Mets are cheap & as long as they keep salaries down I don't think the'll ever be where they need to be to fill up that stadium. Case in point was the fact that one of there best players Daniel Murphy was actually available in trade talks.

The Mets are short a Miracle or Two, of having a club worth watching....! Sad...I've enjoyed some of those Mutts Teams over the years...!

It pains me to say this but.....the jury is still out on whether or not the Yankees will have a better record than the Mets THIS SEASON.......for 140 million less? I'm trying not to chuckle....
Grab a hold of yourself Donnie Baseball......we are in a new era where scoring is down...and the Mets have at least 4 very good young starting pitchers and this doesn't include Matt Harvey who will return next year.
