Now I know the first reaction that may strike your mind would be, Doug Christie is the only King that plays defense, but is he seriously worth it? Christie has struggled thus far this season, averaging just 7.5 PPG and 3.3 RPG in 11 games in which he averaged 30 minutes of play. Christie has never been known as an offensive player, but seeing as Sacramento's depleted bench hasn't produced, with the exception of Bobby J, Christie's scoring is needed more than ever. Does anyone else think it's perhaps time to move the 13 year NBA Veteran and the 15.75 Million he's still owed? Perhaps Christie along with some draft selections for two roles players who are defensive oriented, The Trenton Hassell's and Darrell Armstrong's of the world. Not suggesting them in particular, but perhaps players who play similar roles...
No way. Christie had that plantar fascia problem which he is just coming off of.I know so did/does kobe, but it isnt as if the degree of severity doesnt differ.I disagree about the kings needing Christie's scoring more than ever, their roster is full of guys that can score. What they need is another post player who pulls down rebounds, but thats a different topic.Christie has stepped his scoring up many times when the kings asked it of him.The only knock i have on christie is that hes getting up there in age.

Webber, Peja, Bibby, and even Bobby J gave EVERYTHING they possibly could to keep pace with The T-Wolves scoring, who I believed surprised The Kings and ran the score up on them although they've looked unable to do so in recent weeks. Once again, Sacramento lacks depth, so it's almost essential that they get quality scoring from ALL their starters. Last night's game was no different. This single game against Minnesota was HUGE in my opinion, The Kings could have kept momentum rolling, perhaps tacking on several more victories to their win streak. Instead, they lose to a under acheiving Minnesota squad inside Arco arena none the less. Doug Christie? 4 Points. When both teams combine for 231 Points and your starting SHOOTING GUARD only posts 4 Points, there's a problem. Not to mention his age and his salary at this point in his career, it doesn't make his stock too favorable. I would defintely say it's justified to ask the question of Christie being traded at this point...
If you ask me dont trade him but if you really wanna trade him where to and which player do u want back for him? Christie just had a though beginning of the season. This will improve. Christie is a good player and worth alot for kings.
In a word? No The defense that he adds is more important than the scoring. With Webber, Bibby, Stojakovic, Miller, Jackson and Songaila they should have more than enough scoring opportunities to make up for the amount of points that Christie puts up. He has never really been a huge factor as far as scoring goes to begin with. In fact his best scoring year while in Sac to this date has only been 12.3 and his career avarage is only 11.7. Doug is the main one on one defender on this team & he can match up well with just about anyone in the league. he does so many small things on a game in game out basis most of which you never see because they arent for the most part highlight reel material... But without those items, getting done, the kings would be in trouble. Adding another scoring option and taking away the defense he provides is going to cause another problem. with so many scoring options, you now run into a situation of not enough touches for an entire team. Overall its a bad idea.
Doug Christie should stay in a Kings uniform. Why would anyone want to get rid of him is besides me.look he may have gotten off to a slow start, but he adds so much to the team like defending,as in my opinon he seems to be one of our most constant defenders here. it's still too early to say that Christie isn't good for the Kings,so relax.he will come through when he's needed the most.

I say if you score 110 points and lose its not a problem of one player scoring enough.Do the kings need christies scoring? No. Do they have 5 guys on the roster that can each get 20 points any night?Yes. Incase you havent already looked at the box score you'll see that sac got outrebounded by 14.No doubt this was the difference.I just dont understand how you can question trading christie cause of his recent scoring efforts when the Kings go for 110 and average over 100 so far this season.

Perhaps it's not a stretch of the imagination to assume he's facing the decline in his career. Now taking his contract, his age, and his health into account, is he worth keeping around just for the defense? I personally believe they could trade him, obtain a younger player who can provide the same kind of strengths at a more favorable price, if a Christie trade was packaged correctly.
Depends If he continues playing the way hes playing now, I say see who you could get for him. Because right now hes not impressing me at all. But I do think its just a slump hes goin through, if he gets over it he satys, if not... we'll see what our options are.

Like I said I think its just a slump, but ive been watchin and I personally dont like the way he is playin
He would be nice for the warriors . We need D. And how the Warriors offense is, 7 points per game, can play good D,and is also a guy who can lead a team is great. At this rate getting him is like going to Mars without goverment funding.
What you you are saying is illogical youre saying Bring in more offense get rid of the defense why would you do that and about the Minnesota game if you wanted to play with more offense you would have also gave away more points would you rather lose 121-110 on a bad defensive night or lose 135-125 on a good defensive night? take youre pick.

He's also more depth off the bench which Sacramento no longer has. Howard is a possible starter incase Webber goes down with another injury, I believe having a potential starter at the power foward postion is much more important than having that quality of a player at the point guard (bobby jackson). Webber's the one with the health problems, he should be getting limited time, I have no worries about Mike Bibby's health or his abilities. Bob Sura, defense and offense. He's a good rebounder, he's solid defensively, he's a great passer, and he even has the ability to score. I'm sure he could match Christie's production given the minutes. I recall 3 straight triple doubles last season... More Defense, More Depth, Insurance Policy For Webber, that's what Sacramento gains from this trade.
No Mutombo is the poster child for being posterized by anyone that can dunk.Last time Sacramento had a shot blocker was the 02-03 season, keon clark.Mutumbo is one of the sadist players to watch in the league today, knowing what hes done in the past and what happens to him now.The last time Sura was worthy of mention was the 96-97 season.I Definitely wouldnt mind picking up howard if the contract were short enough. So its two has beens and a capable scoring bigman for a high quality point guard and one of the leagues top defenders at the 2, and a big body(ostertag ).The best player the kings would recieve doesnt possess the qualities they need most. The trade also reduces the kings backcourt from Bibby ,Jackson,Christie to Bibby,Sura. All in all the trade is garbage for sacramento.GARBAGE!
