<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> 1. Mardy Collins, Temple: At 6-feet-6 and 220 pounds, he's a matchup nightmare at both ends. No wonder he averaged 17.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.8 steals as a junior. His assist total should have been higher, but his teammates shot just 38 percent. Collins averaged 39.8 minutes, and he does more than any point guard in college basketball, but he can't do everything. 2. Daniel Gibson, Texas: Once P.J. Tucker and LaMarcus Aldridge went down last season, Texas saddled up Gibson and rode him into the NCAA Tournament. With Tucker and Aldridge back, the 6-2 sophomore will turn the decreased defensive attention into increased production from his 14.2 ppg and 3.9 apg last year. And as improbable as this sounds, Gibson is much better than his 39.8 percent accuracy from 3-point range. 3. Dee Brown, Illinois: He and the Illini enjoyed a magical season a year ago, but now Brown (13.3 ppg, 4.5 apg) must replace Deron Williams as his team's primary ball-handler. Can he do it? Sure he can. But don't be surprised if the 6-foot senior's efficiency (2.4 assist-turnover ratio, 43.4 percent on 3-pointers) dips without Williams and Luther Head. 4. Terrell Everett, Oklahoma: Surprised? Don't worry about it. A 6-4 senior, Everett is a mini-Mardy -- one of the best-kept secrets in college basketball. Everett averaged 12.5 ppg, 5.0 apg, 4.8 rpg and 1.7 steals last season, his first in Division I, and the best junior college transfers tend to erupt (in a good way) as seniors. 5. Darius Washington, Memphis: His assist-turnover ratio as a freshman was a dreadful 1.1-to-1, but he improved as the season went along and ought to make a monster step this year. Scary, considering Washington (6-2) averaged 15.4 ppg and 3.8 apg and shot 39.5 percent on 3-pointers last year. 6. Jose Juan Barea, Northeastern: A 5-11 senior, he's a one-man wrecking crew (22.2 ppg, 7.3 apg, 4.3 rpg) and would be a star on any team in the country. 7. Randy Foye, Villanova: He's not purely a point guard -- Foye (6-3) has to share with Mike Nardi, Kyle Lowry and Allan Ray -- but only Temple's Collins does more for his team. As a junior, Foye averaged 15.5 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 3.1 apg and 2.1 steals. 8. Aaron Bruce, Baylor: A 6-3 sophomore, he had to do way too much last season for a freshman -- or for anyone -- but that should change this season with the arrival of freshman guards Henry Dugat and Curtis Jerrells. Bruce's scoring (18.2 ppg) might go down, but his assists (3.8) and 3-point accuracy (39.9 percent) should rise. 9. Chris Hernandez, Stanford: Why so low? His assist-turnover ratio is barely 1.5-to-1, and he averaged just four assists last season. Why so high? The 6-2 senior scores well (15.2 ppg) and is a tenacious, gutsy leader whose value exceeds his statistics. 10. Rajon Rondo, Kentucky: His offensive production was unimpressive last season (8.1 ppg, 3.5 apg) -- and might not get a lot better this year -- but no one is more disruptive on defense. Until Rondo (6-1) can hit a jumper, though, talk of him entering the draft after his sophomore season is ridiculous. </div> Read More Terrell Everett and Jose Juan Barea > Rondo, Horner, Hernandez and Jordan Farmar?
Terrell Everett? C'mon Doyel, get off Oklahoma's dick. He's hyped them all offseason saying that they would win the national championship; so now he's hyping their players. It gets old after a while...UConn's guard Marcus Williams needs to at least be in the top 5; he's the best passer in the nation in my mind...but yeah, this is a typical Doyel article...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting ItsShowtyme24:</div><div class="quote_post">Where is Mustafa Shakur and Taquan Dean on that list? and why is Rondo so low?</div> Dean is a "shooting guard", according to Lord Greg Shakur, while I think he tends to be overrated, needs to be on there somewhere. j0se, you're right, Barea is a proven performer and one of the best PGs, but as good as he is, he doesn't belong above the Rondos and the Hernandezs of the college scene. Doyell screws up again.
Top three look good but I don't know how anybody can mess up the top three. You can tell this was a CBS article...
LOL, Doyell strikes again. Shakur is no where mention then he brings up Ramon Sessions? Who's that guy from Hostra?
