VITALS: 6-1, 193, Duke OVERVIEW: Duhon spent four seasons at Duke, winning a national championship as a freshman. The Louisiana native never was a major scorer in college, but averaged 6.1 assists his senior season with the Blue Devils. Duhon was actually a better draft prospect as a sophomore, playing behind Jay Williams at Duke. But a difficult junior season in which he shot just under 39 percent cast doubts about his ability. Duhon is not a tremendous shooter or penetrator, but has above-average defensive ability that could get him drafted. LIKELY DRAFT POSITION: Duhon is considered no better than a second-rounder. That is a far cry from what observers would have expected during his freshman season at Duke, when he was projected as a future lottery selection. Duhon had a chance to regain some of that respect in Chicago, but if anything, his lackluster play may have lost him the faith some teams had left for him. COMPARATIVE UPSIDE: Maurice Cheeks, Eric Snow COMPARATIVE DOWNSIDE: Mateen Cleaves, Brevin Knight ROLE PROJECTION: Reserve POSITIVES: Unlike most of the prospects in the draft, teams know exactly what they are getting in Duhon - strong leadership skills, intelligence, playmaking ability and defensive intensity. Those are the qualities that coaches look for in a backup point guard. Duhon is not concerned with personal stardom and would never complain about his minutes, so he has the perfect mentality for a reserve role. SHORTCOMINGS: Duhon's struggles with his outside shooting during his college career have been well-documented. His lack of a perimeter game will be even more exposed at the NBA level, where his college strengths will be neutralized. If Duhon does not develop a reliable jump shot, he will find himself playing in the NBDL. He may simply be another of the many products of the Duke system who do not thrive outside it. WHAT THEY'RE SAYING: "I think he can play some point (guard) at the NBA level. It's a question of him needing to work on his offense. - NBA director of scouting Marty Blake
