Assuming the Bulls get the 1st round pick who should they select in the draft? Emeka Okafor can get them wins now, but Dwight Howard has more upside (but is considered a project) What do you guys think?

I don't know how any team could pass up Okafor , but then again , right now they have Curry and Chandler , great PG great SG all young and talented..I'll get a SF and Dwight Howard is the best option for that.
If we can help it, we will not go for any High Schoolers. This franchise couldn't take another project, the only way i see us drafting one is using him as trade bait and trade him with a large contract player, like E-Rob, and trade him for an elite swingman.
^that is exactly what iwas thinking. People predict the bulls (if the players eventually mature and improve) to be playoff contenders in 3/4/5 years especially with the young talent, but if they get another high schooler not to mention another big man, that would only expand the wait for playoff contention. But i also agree that if the bulls take dwight then they willl trade a player with a big contract along with dwight for an elite swingman.
Okay, I'm gonna add a twist.. What happens if we get 2nd pick and Emeka Okafor is already taken... Do we draft Dwight Howard (who's drawn comparisons to LeBron & TD) or do we go for somene else (Luol Deng?)

We could trade Smith or Howard down for a veteran and Andre Iguodala. We could also use either one packaged with Eddie Robinson or AD for Rashard Lewis or Ray Allen. (We'd probably have to throw in somebody in there to make it more even if we wanted Ray).
I'll have Ben Gordon over Josh Smith , I think you guys should draft Dwight , trade for whoever has Ben Gordon and a good player of their team , something like that.
If we pick Ben Gordan with the intention of keeping him, I will not be a Bulls fan anymore. I would take Smith over Gordan but I would take Deng over Smith.
I think the Bulls should really lay off the highschoolers this year. Enough rebuilding, bring in someone that can produce right away.

Very true. Maybe they can get Elton Brand back, haha But I agree that they should look into maybe trading away their pick for a vet.
Ben Gordon for sure, I'd rather have him over the egotistical and ballhogging Crawford, he'd make a lot of you play better.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Gordon is a pointguard, correct? I don't want another "battle of the pointguards" (See Crawford and Williams), it hurts chemistry in our backcourt.

Sort of like Rip.
If I was another team, I would certainly take Gordan over Smith, but this is the Bulls. We drafted 3 Pgs in the 1st round of the last 5 years(i think). We already have Hinrich so there would be no point at all.
I hear a lot of people on tv and on boards saying that Okafor has back problems.. that's probably a downside for chicago and chi-town already has 2 young post's curry and chandler. The Bulls should go for a combo gaurd or a small forward. I think that they should draft either Dwight Howard, yes i know he's a high school and considered a 'project' but this guy can ball, and he ball's at the position they need better players at.
I'd like to see them get Luol Deng. I think what the Bulls need more than anything is a SF, and I think Deng could fill that nicely. I like them with Kirk at PG, maybe deal Crawford and keep the two young guys. I really like their core, I just think they're in need of a good SF and a vet leader.
