Andriuskevicius, who had a special workout here yesterday, plays like a small forward, and because of his toothpick frame, he'd get pushed around next season, which is why the Knicks consider Frye higher on their board. One scout said, "I don't know how anyone in the top 10 can take that chance." The Knicks are eyeing high school shooting guards Martell Webster and Gerald Green at 8, and Thomas said he'd consider Kentucky center Randolph Morris at 30. </div> Source
draft I would like for the Knicks to draft Webster because he may be the BPA and he fills our need at SF (TT will be gone by the trade deadline). Frye wouldnt be bad either, it would be nice to have someone contribute at over 6'9. Just please not a project or undersized PF.
I would welcome both of them although we probably have no chance in getting Green in the draft. Webster is someone I really like. He?s a mature, hardworking, player that will come in and add a perimeter threat immediately spreading out the floor for Marbury to penetrate. Marbury said it so many times, Allan Houston makes the game so much easier when he is on the floor. With the possibility of Houston coming back, he can get that, and in addition, Webster will have the perfect mentor in Allan Houston. He?s also only 18 years old and has a great upside. I wouldn?t mind at all if Isiah got us Webster. I would be very depressed if Isiah got us Channing Frye with our 8th pick. The only reason why he is in the lottery is because of the big man drought this year. He really isn?t deserving and his numbers at Arizona were hardly dominant. One thing that probably (and hopefully) will make Isiah not select him, is his upside. He doesn?t have a huge upside at all and although he can contribute upfront where we need our most help, passing up on possibly Wright or Granger would be silly. I would stay away from this guy, Zeke.

Thomas is a possiblity because of how well he played this season, but don't hold your breath.

I think that TT will be traded becuz of the contrac. I think Webster is the BPA for the Knicks because Green will be gone by 8 but if Webster gets picked before 8 then they go with Granger who can play either 2 or 3.
Latest Insider solidifies Frye soaring up the charts. He's 6'11 and 260 now working out at Tim Grover's ATTACK training camp. He's also hitting 3 pointers and is more explosive jumping and with his lateral movement. Makes sense for the Knicks to draft him, Gerald Green won't be there, and Webster has more question marks than Frye at this point. The possibility of the Knicks drafting Frye and Morris in round 1 immediately upgrades their frontcourt. It also means Isiah can comfortably trade Kurt Thomas for some backcourt help.

I?ve never heard of the attack training camp, but whatever it is, I guess it?s working out for him if he can get 260 in such a small amount of time. Although he?s hitting NBA 3-pointers, is it accurate enough to be added into his offensive arsenal this upcoming season? Also, with that additional weight, can he bang with centers in the league? Wow, I had no idea he was safer than Martell Webster. From what I?ve heard, Webster can come in a make an impact immediately and has a great upside. I heard that Frye can contribute, but I heard that he probably doesn?t have the biggest upside. If there weren?t two or three lottery-talent big men in the draft, I doubt he would be this high. In around March and April, Frye was about a 30th pick, now he?s a potential 8th? I don?t understand that. He was extremely inconsistent in Arizona and has yet to prove he is a lottery-caliber. God help him if he wasn?t 7-feet! My sources are severely limited so I wouldn?t know how good he truly is, but could the new and improved Frye be this good? I think Isiah Thomas will trade Kurt Thomas regardless of who we pick up in the draft. First of all, this is Isiah Thomas, second of all, Kurt Thomas and Marbury have been feuding all season, third of all, this is probably as high as Kurt Thomas? value will ever get and that contract is only increasing year by year. I see Kurt Thomas out of here by the summer. With the 8th pick, I say draft Webster, or Granger, or Wright and with the 30th pick, I say we should go take Ronny Turiaf, or Randolph Morris. We might be able to get a decent big man with our 54th pick who can give us 10 minutes a game or maybe even a project. Let?s not forget about the young Jackie Butler. I still think he can be a pretty decent player and considering he?s been working with Mark Aguirre, who knows what he can turn out to be. Maybe not anytime soon, but eventually is a possibility. I?d take any of those scenarios up there, but not Channing Frye. I was never really a fan of his, because of his inconsistency and his game simply doesn?t excite me. I think if we draft Frye, the Knicks will fill an immediate role, but they lose on plenty of more talented players who can help them later on.
I think it's fair to include Wright, Granger, and Webster as possibilities for the Knicks as well. However, Channing Frye is the darling of the draft right now and guess who one of his biggest supporters is? ... that's right Isiah Thomas! The knock on Frye was his lack of intensity. He silenced those critics with his performance in the NCAA Tourney. He also got an endorsement from his college coach Lute Olsen. Then the knock was Frye is too, skinny and lacks strength. However bulking up to 260, and at 6'11, he's actually the same size as Duncan at this point. I've been trying to find some pictures, because I want to see how much bigger he actually got in the upper body. Every year there is a player who soars up the draft stocks, this year it just happens to be Frye. At one time Isiah Thomas became fond of another skinny college player who caught some draft buzz named Marcus Camby. The only thing I'm skeptic about is Loren Woods had the same buzz around him when he came out. GM's thought he wouldn't slip past the #10 pick and would go as high as #5. He had a monster NCAA Tournament, bulked up in a pre-draft camp, and dominated in workouts. He ended up being selected in Round 2. So go figure. Here's what Portland's GM said about Webster... <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"He is like Dennis Scott."</div> However, if the rumors are true that Portland is trading down to get Webster, this could be a smokescreen. I think Webster is comparable to Mitch Richmond if I had to choose an NBA player.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">June 11, 2005 -- CHICAGO ? When Isiah Thomas spent four days in Tucson six weeks ago interviewing folks about 6-11 Arizona center Channing Frye, the Knick president was overwhelmed by the rave reviews about his character. During yesterday's press conference with lottery candidates, Frye's engaging, witty charm overflowed. "I could do interviews all day," Frye said at the pre-draft camp here before his physical. "You guys could talk to me all you want." Thomas believes playing in New York requires a certain personality to handle the Big Apple microscope. Frye was born in White Plains and has a contingent of relatives living in Brooklyn. It's always been considered a risk for the Knicks to take a high school player ? though schoolboy swingmen Gerald Green and sharpshooter Martell Webster are on the Knick radar. </div> Isiah High on Frye
Thanks for the insight, Shape. I?m just a bit skeptical on him. Despite his change, I still would rather Webster, Wright or Granger over him. It just seems to me he has bust written all over him for some reason.

Maybe you should review the JBB Guidelines. About Hodge, his ball handling is solid enough to play point forward in the NBA, and while mentioning his weakness, in all fairness, please mention his strengths. Hodge will give the Knicks a playmaker to keep the team in order and utilize Marbury and Crawford?s scoring. San Antonio appears to be very interested in him and remember, they have drafted some great players in recent history.
