Well, it looks like Sherman thinks this team is closer than I think it is. I hope he's right. Why else trade up into the third to take a punter?? I actually like the player picked, but not what was given up to get him. As for the other picks, I'm very happy with the cornerbacks and the center. The tackles sound like they may develop into something special, but will take some coaching. Washington is big and should be able to spell Grady once in awhile, and the other DT can play all line positions so should be valuable in the rotation. Before the draft I said GB needed to use it's first 3 picks on defense, 2 in the secondary, and 1 on the line, so I can't be too upset with the way things shook out. Can't wait until the mini-camps start to see how these guys perform, as well as some of the past picks that were injured. When Ford, Johnson, and Lee come back, it will be like 3 more draft picks, because they didn't make it past training camp last year.
Well, the didn't draft either of them. Their entire O-line was drafted in the 2nd round or later (and considered one of the best in the league). Sharper was a 2nd rounder, McKenzie was a 3rd rounder, Hunt was a 3rd rounder, KGB was a 5th rounder, Diggs was a 4th rounder, Barnett a 1st rounder, Davenport a 4th rounder, Barry and Fisher were undrafted FAs...I could go on, but I think I've made my point that I don't see where the bad draft perception comes from... I mean, it's not like we overpayed for a rookie QB or anything... ; )
Whats going to happen with McKenzie, with all these draft picks at CB, makes me think they will trade him before the season starts. I heard around here that Eagles inquired him, but the PAckers said they would not move him within the conference.
yeah, that's what I've heard too. A report in the paper recently said GB was trying to trade him on day 1 of the draft, but I guess there wer no takers. If he does come back, it means we have an extremely deep secondary, if he doesn't, well, then we figure out what we have. I wouldn't be surprised if he sits out the season, but I think that would severely hurt his value to other teams (contract money).

It looks like they are wasted picks...lol The Packers have done good at filling needs lately. Unfortunately, sometimes they aren't flashy and therefore don't relate to "good draft grades". By the time the picks do pan out, no one goes back and says they messed up on the draft grades from 2001 or whatever.
Barnett is the first 1st rounder that played well for a long time. Last year's draft kinda looks bad because like 4 or 5 people ended up on IR and didn't play a down. Hopefully some of those guys can contribute this year.
LSU ur a funny guy. i dont know where that perception has come from. My bad i guess. i dont think unt is that good tho
