Who all thinks shooting for Ben Gordon (or hoping he falls down the draft to us) is a good deal? I guess the idea is slide Barbosa over to SG (read blurb in FA thread for link) since they aren't happy with him at point, set Vujanic up as a backup (if he can handle the point since he is also a scoring guard), and then draft a scoring guard who hasn't proven he can run a team (not that his game isn't impressive as it is, like Barbosa only even better). Seem crazy? Crazy enough to work? DraftCity.com seems to think we have a shot at getting him. Still, I'm wondering if people think it's a good idea. Will he be a Billups or a Bibby raining shots with the best of them and keeping a team together too? Come to think of it either Casey's or Barbosa's days are numbered if they really think LB belongs at the 2. Casey is a good defender and can shoot the three but I really think the potential is in Barbosa. If he can get steals without getting into as much foul trouble and if he can continue shooting more threes per 48 than Casey I think he's more valuable. Anyone else agree? We also got to wonder if Vujanic is even going to come over if he finds they've drafted another pointguard, unless they assure him Barbosa will be a SG I guess. He wants minutes. I imagine living with 15 is fine but it's not worth coming to America to get garbage time or just to get traded away immediately I imagine. Do we like the idea of the hyped Euro guard? More than Ben Gordon? Of course most of us haven't gotten to see Milos even play a game. What about Andriuskevicius? I think if the rumors of our chasing Okur are true it makes the rumors of our Anriuskevicius guarantee seem less likely. Unless of course Lampe is a bust in there eyes. I would find that surprising.
If we go small in the draft then I think we do pursue a Okur/Big man in FA. I really don't think we will draft a PG unless Livingston falls to us or pick someone for trade bait.
I don't know, so if we got Gordon, he would start, with Vujanic as his backup, then Barbosa would be the backup to JJ at the 2 guard. Then I guess Jacobsen would backup Marion at the 3, which isn't too many minutes. I'd rather get a big man, I like Biedrins, but he'll likely be gone at 7, so Martynas looks likeal ikely choice.
Phoenix also worked out European pros Sasha Vujacic, a 6-7 Slovenian point guard, and Anderson Varejao, a 6-10 Brazilian power forward. http://www.nba.com/suns/news/azcentral_040607.html no word on what they thought of their games. Again they are trying out late first round/early second round talent.
