Hosting the Eastern Conference defending champion Indiana Fever in their home opener was just as rough and physical as the Atlanta Dream expected.

Dream forward Angel McCoughtry needed three stitches to her lower lip after she was elbowed in the mouth by Indiana Fever forward Tamika Catchings late in the first quarter. During the game, numerous players from both teams were bounced around and hit the court hard.

In the end, the Dream survived the hard knocks and their own road-weary legs for a 66-62 victory in the Philips Arena on Sunday.
