<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Even in Cleveland, Drew Gooden made a quick connection to his East Bay youth. Traded to the Cavaliers last week, Gooden spent much of his first day in Cleveland on Tuesday with Indians pitcher C.C. Sabathia, a friend and frequent high school opponent. Gooden recalls his junior year at El Cerrito High, when Vallejo High, featuring a 6-foot-7 senior named Sabathia, "just killed us." They had faced each other on the East Bay baseball field in earlier days. "I got to know him and it's good to have him out here," Gooden said. A Florida resident for the time being, Gooden has retained those ties to his East Bay youth, despite a college career in Kansas and a nomadic, two-year pro career that already has included stops in three cities in the eastern part of the country -- Memphis, Orlando, and now Cleveland. Gooden still has an apartment in Oakland and will return to the East Bay for his basketball camp, which will be held Aug. 9-14 for boys and girls ages 7-14 at Albany High School. He calls it a payback for his younger days spent at camps of former Oakland prep stars. "It's my turn," Gooden said. "I remember as a kid, I was at the camps of Jason Kidd at Cal and Brian Shaw at Contra Costa College and Antonio Davis. I think it's my turn, for my generation to have one." Warriors vice president Chris Mullin and Lakers guard Kareem Rush are also scheduled to make appearances at Gooden's camp, and each camper will receive a T-shirt, a basketball and a photograph with Gooden. </div> http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...SPG9N7VUR41.DTL
Sorry I can't find the link for this, but those of you with espn Insider probably already read it. Apparently one of the reasons why Gooden has been traded so many times is that he's developed a rep as being one of the league's biggest partiers and has one of the biggest and most aggravating entourages in the league. I have absolutely no desire to see him on the Warriors, and even less of a desire to see the Warriors trade something valuable for him. I'd much rather have Murphy at the four and Dunleavy at the three.
