Drew Lavender is going to transfer to Xavier. Drew is a really good point guard that can flat out play. His father said he is transferring because he like the style of play of Xavier, and the academics. So this move is going to kill Oklahoma.

Well, we all knew Lavender was going to transfer, the question was just what school he would choose. I personally think this is a bad decision. I knew he'd pick an Ohio school, but why not Ohio State? Xavier is going downhill. They've lost West, Sato, Matta, and even Odia. He should make them a decent team again, but it's still a bad choice in my opinion.

Yeah, I figured Ohio State would've been the choice since they are going to have a guard opening after this season when J.J. Sullinger graduates. But he might be thinking ahead and seeing where Ohio State looks to have a loaded class coming in 2006 which includes Daequan Cook and possibly Mike Conley and you would think that Conley would be the starting point guard.

Obviously Lavender wants playing time, because if he wanted to win he'd have picked OSU. He said he wants PT earlier this year. Well, he's going to get it. I don't think this is a terrible decision, but he could've made a better one. Xavier does have some good interior players.

ESPN said that he is going to sit out this year. So how is going to get some playing time.

All transfers have to sit out one year. However, when he comes back for the 2006-2007 season, he will be the starting Point Guard and probably the first option on offense.

Do they lose a year of too, like if they were a sophmore transferring, sit out Junior year, are they still a Junior or is it like redshirting?

If a player transfered after the 2002 season as a Sophomore, he would sit out the 2003 season and then in the 2004 season he would be have Junior eligibility. There are, of course, some exceptions though.

How come Charlie Villanueva only had to sit out a couple of games when he tranferred before his Freshman season from Illinois to UConn?

Villanueva did something totally different. He originally orally committed to Illinois and then decided to enter the NBA draft. As you know everyone gets that one chance to test the waters and he did that as a freshman. Villanueva decided to come back which made him eligible to be recruited by any college because he never signed a national letter of intent with Illinois. So he decided to go to UConn because Bill Self left Illinois for Kansas and that was that main reason he wanted to attend Illinois in the first place.

So why did he have to sit out a couple of games if he didn't transfer? I still don't get all this mambo-jambo stuff bout this transferin'.

Villanueva attended a workout at the IMG Academy in Florida, followed by another workout in Chicago in the first week of June. Agent Dan Fagan set up the Chicago pre-draft workout for Villanueva's prep star friend Ndudi Ebi, but it is unclear who paid for Villanueva's expenses on the trip.

Fagan has denied giving Villanueva money, and New York friend Nathan Blue was also investigated by the NCAA for possibly giving funds for other trip expenses.
