<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Clyde Drexler says he has been contacted by a Portland man about being part of a group that would buy the Trail Blazers from Paul Allen.

?The guy is dead serious,? says Drexler, the former Trail Blazer star who lives in Houston but retains a home in Portland. ?I told him to put it on paper and get back to me.?

Drexler won?t identify the Portlander, whom he says would serve as majority owner.

?I?m very interested,? says Drexler, a 2004 inductee to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. ?I would love to be a part of it. If it happens, it would be a phenomenal thing to be involved with.?

Allen, owner of the Blazers since 1988, appealed to city, county and state officials last month for some sort of public financial assistance in running the NBA club. An Allen representative says the team, which incurred millions of dollars in losses in recent years, stands to lose more than $100 million over the next three years.

The representative says all options, including sale of the club or moving it to another city, are possible.

Drexler, 43, says the potential principal buyer also wants to include ex-Blazers Terry Porter and Detlef Schrempf, among others, in the ownership group.

Schrempf confirmed he had been contacted by the Portland man about being a part of the purchasing group, but said planning is in the preliminary stages. Schrempf, an assistant coach with the Seattle SuperSonics, didn?t indicate his level of interest but said he asked the prospective majority owner to get back to him if planning reaches a more advanced stage.

Porter could not be reached for comment.

Drexler says he would want to be part of the club?s management team.

?If I were to become involved, I would definitely want to be part of day-to-day operations on the basketball side,? says Drexler, who played for Portland from 1983-95 and holds many of the franchise career records, including scoring, rebounds, steals and games played.</div>

Drexler and Porter are perfect people to own the Blazers. Let's get this deal goin I want Drexler back on the team in anyway possible. I think Drexler and Porter should ask a very wealthy Lithuanian by the name of Arvydis Sabonis to join in on this investment group. He already owns a basketball team in his native country so he brings valuable experience to the group. I also believe he's a good judge of character as well as someone who knows what it takes to build a great team. Drexler, Porter and, Sabonis would be my ideal owners group for the Blazers. Good Luck Clyde!
