Bobby Ryan spent most of the past month struggling to score and worrying that the Anaheim Ducks' troubles would force him to leave his beloved Newport Beach for some frigid place back East.

Ryan was long overdue for a lucky break, and he finally got it after a few calming words from his new coach.

Ryan's awkward shot glanced off Drew Doughty and past Jonathan Quick with 48.8 seconds to play, and the Ducks beat the Los Angeles Kings 3-2 on Tuesday night for their first victory under Bruce Boudreau.
