<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The dominoes are starting to fall in NBA free agency, with two of the biggest names on the market ? Seattle?s Ray Allen and Milwaukee?s Michael Redd ? agreeing to re-sign with their current teams. The Bulls, meanwhile, are still browsing instead of shopping. The team hoped to free up the entire mid-level salary-cap exception (worth about $5 million) by offering restricted free agent Chris Duhon the smaller exception of $1.7 million. The offer was rejected, however, and now the Bulls are awaiting a counter-offer from Duhon?s agent, Bill Duffy. If the Bulls pay Duhon a starting salary higher than $1.7 million, it will count as a portion of the mid-level exception. With the full mid-level exception available, the Bulls could at least contend for unrestricted free agents such as Donyell Marshall, Shareef Abdur-Rahim and Antonio Daniels. General manager John Paxson said Thursday he has never had any conversations about trading for Boston?s Antoine Walker, as suggested in one report. Most of the Bulls? other free agents ? including Tyson Chandler, Eddy Curry and Othella Harrington ? have ?Larry Bird rights,? which means the team can exceed the salary cap to re-sign them. Curry resumed workouts with personal trainer Tim Grover this week after sitting out three months with a heart condition.</div> Source
If I were the Bulls I would just wait for another team to offer him a contract, and match it. I do not think any other team will offer him a big contract. Chances are the contract offer he signs will be a few digits apart from the money he wants. I love Duhon think he was the most underrated part of our team last season so I would not mind if they offered him a little more money. They could always sign a free agent or two who are being over looked right now such as Damon Jones have not heard much about him getting any offer.
Duhon was probably the most underrated part of are team last year. He plays good defense and his 3 point shot is improving. I personaly do not want us to resign him for my own greedy reasons. He would most likely start at pg making hinrich are sg. This would mean gordon would have to come off the bench. Being a big Gordon fan i do not want see that happen for another season lol. I would rather have a backcourt of hinrich and gordon with pargo and basden coming off the bench. Although resigning him would be fine with me only if he came off the bench.
Duhon was solid last year... solid. He played defense, and distributed the ball. He didn't really try to do too much which can be good, but sometimes bad as well. He was solid and is worth more than 1.7 million.
