<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Gerald Henderson, the son of a former NBA player, completed a two-day basketball recruiting coup for Duke with a commitment Wednesday. Henderson is a 6-foot-5 small forward from the Episcopal Academy in Merion, Pa., who ranked No. 21 among the nation's juniors by recruiting analyst Bob Gibbons. Henderson's father, also named Gerald Henderson, played 13 NBA seasons. Along with Jon Scheyer, Gibbons' No. 8 junior, Henderson gives Duke a strong presence on the wing for the future. A 6-foot-5 shooting guard from Glenbrook North High in Illinois, Scheyer committed Tuesday. Episcopal Academy coach Dan Dougherty said Henderson's father has had a substantial influence on his development. "The father's very willing and able to work with the kid and make sure during the offseason that he has the best of everything," Dougherty said. "He has people that can work on his shooting, people that work on his conditioning, and the kid is a great golfer." Henderson averaged 18.7 points, about nine rebounds and 4.1 assists as a junior and is a teammate of 6-foot-4 guard Wayne Ellington, whom Gibbons ranks No. 3 in the junior class. Dougherty said Henderson is capable of playing shooting guard in addition to small forward if he improves his perimeter jump shot.</div> Source
