I must admit I don't know much about the 1994 season other then the stats i'v read and old games i'v watched of it. My memory was a little so so since I was 8, but in RealGM they have a wiretap http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/212506/Krzyzewski_Has_No_Interest_In_Lakers_Job were Coach K says he almost left Duke to coach the Blazers in 94. If anyone has anymore info on that i'd like to know a bit more about the situation.
Blazers had just fired Adelman after another first round exit, and Petrie resigned for having to do it. PA and team went about trying to get Coach K, but settled on PJ Carlisimo from Seton Hall. Not sure when Bob Whitsitt became involved (before or after?). PA made a strong pitch and offered a huge contract, wanting to make a splash with publicity.
Trader Bob did arrive in 1994, but I don't remember if it was before or after Coach PJ was hired. IIRC it was after PJ. PA has a history of hiring coaches first and then GM's.
Allen hired Whitsitt 22 days before Allen's friend Carlesimo (date approximate) http://www.prosportstransactions.co...plinaryChkBx=yes&LegalChkBx=yes&submit=Search ...but hiring Carlesimo was already in the works. This would be like giving Cho credit for signing Matthews and the new assistant coaches. http://www.prosportstransactions.co...plinaryChkBx=yes&LegalChkBx=yes&submit=Search
