QUOTE

Based on the first three days of workouts, the two most likely candidates to be cut are Seattle SuperSonics forwards Nick Collison and Kevin Durant. Mike Krzyzewski seems to be inclined to feature more versatile perimeter players, including sharpshooters Michael Redd and Mike Miller. In Durant, the No. 2 overall pick in this year's draft, Krzyzewski said: "He's a special player but he's young. That's just the way it is. "He's solid and he keeps getting better every day, but it's going to come down to what we need right now."

Battier would've been a better fit than Durant IMO, I don't think he's fully ready yet. And I don't know why Collison was thought about in the first place, he's barely making due on the Sonics.

I don't get cutting Durant. He has from all sources been tearing up the training camp. We saw him tear up the summer league at the end. He probably wants to still make up some for those first few poor summer league games. He is a better defender than Michael Redd. I get the veteran thing, but they traditionally bring on one young guy, and Durant is a hell of a young guy, that is probably more talented, and ready to play in this competition at a high level for pure ownage.

This is what got them into the mess they're in, favoring stars, favoring veterans. Durant is a perfect fit for international play.

Redd is better than Durant, I don't think there are any wing players on the roster Durant's better than or will be better than by next summer.

durant's shooting isn't as good as some of the other players on the team, and his defense isn't as good.
