I heard an ESPN announcer on one of the games the other day, I believe it was OU-OSU, saying that Kevin Durant may jump into the no 1 slot for the upcoming draft over Oden? I was shocked when he said he'd take Durant over Oden! Durant is really something special (reminds me a LeBron James...honestly) but damn, over a 7 footer who can play defense as well as offense?
I've been thinking about this for a very very long time, especially after the dominance Durant has shown so far. I really think that Durant isn't far off from Oden. I think if a team like Memphis (barring they keep Gasol, which is unlikely), they could take Durant because they already would have a big man in Gasol. But for 90% of the teams in the NBA Oden would make the most sense.
I honestly think that Durant is better, but dominant centers are hard to come by so teams will still take Oden over Durant.
I know I'd damn sure take Durant over Oden, because Durant has straight up impressed me so far this year. He is an absolute monster... he'll be better than KG.But again, it really depends on the team who gets the top two picks and what they need. Either way you can't go wrong, in my opinion.
Every team will pick Oden over Durant, except for teams like Houston or Orlando with solid centers already. Actually, Houston would probably go Oden and play him at the PF, kind of like Serge in that sim league. But I would absolutely be shocked if Oden went 2.
I'm really leaning more and more towards wanting Philly to take Durant every week the way this guy is playing. His production has been off the charts for a freshmen this season and it's even risen since conference games have started! This guy still hasn't reached his full potential yet, and he will be incredible in the future. God this will be a great draft this year.

You know Billy King will find a way to screw us over despite having three first round picks in this draft.

I would take Oden, he mostly shoots, rebounds and blocks with his left hand right now cause of the wrist injurt. Imagine his stats with both hands well. Hes better than Durant, but for alotve people just looking at stats htink Durant is better....which isnt the case. If Memphis has #1, we are defiently taking Oden without a doubt.
Philly takes Oden...they have alotve faith in Carney, Korver and Iggy....and Durant would play SF in the NBA, which all three of those players do as well.

I wouldnt be surprised to see Durant go past Oden. I think he is more ready and has about the same or maybe a little less potential that Oden. Durant can also play more positions and has both an inside and outside game. I thought it would be close between these two all along really. Oden will probably be picked first though because of all the hype, his size and his skill.
I'm not basing this on stats at all. Durant is an incredible player. He has an incredible offensive arsenal and can score from anywhere, he can grab rebounds, block shots, play good defense, etc. This guy is incredibly and I agree with BigMo in saying he will be better than KG. I could go on about this guy. He's incredibly explosive, very athletic, has a great work ethic, outstanding leader, has a takeover mentality, etc. This guy will be an absolute stud! I love Oden but I believe Durant is more talented. Oden is just staying number 1 right now on the fact that it is so hard to get a dominant C these days. Plus Durants game is still getting better and better. He's added more muscle and he's developing more of a game downlow. He'llk be able to play PF in the NBA as a player that can play inside but is also a major threat from outside.

Durant is more talented, and could be KG like.Oden has a chance to be more dominant. It all depends on a teams needs. If Houston, Orlando, Toronto, maybe Milwaulkee, Dallas and for sure PHX(because he'd slow the game down) had the #1 pick, they wouldn't take Oden. Of course Dallas and PHX don't have a chance in hell of getting the one seed.
You can't go wrong with either player, and I've been a big Kevin Durant backer for almost 3 years. But you'd have to be a fool not to pick Greg Oden. Even teams like Houston and Orlando would have to take a hard look at not taking Oden. Dwight Howard and Greg Oden together makes me almost fall out of my chair...same thing with Yao Ming and Greg Oden..etc..Both these guys are at another level but in my opinion you have to go with the big man first (Durant's a big guy but not not a classic big like Oden). Greg Oden will go first regardless of who has the pick, whoever has the second pick, hell have fun with Durant. You don't pass on a once in decade center...look at the impact they have had (Ewing, Olajuwon, Shaq, Robinson, Duncan...).
Ya, I really wont EVER see anybody taking Durant over Oden...like I said earlier, he hasnt even had his shooting hand AND hes still playing like a star in the NCAA. Durant is good and all, but there is not one team in the NBA that has two dominant big men...and thats what every team wants really.
