When I watch Dwyane Wade, all I can say is wow. He is absoulutely amazing. He is incredibly skilled for a young player and has impressed me a lot in this last season. While watching him in the regular season and the playoffs, I have noticed a few great things from his game. 1) He is a great clutch player. Obviously he plays well when the game is on the line. He has hit a collection of game winners and important shots that either hold a lead for his team or give his team momentum. He always seem to make the big play in crunch time and that type of player is something all coaches long for. 2) His maturity is well beyond his years. Going back to the clutch thing, he is always extremely calm and has great poise when the game is on the line. That is a sign of maturity. Another example of his maturity is his leadership qualities. His maturity is equivalent to a veteren's and he is only in his second year. 3) He is a great defender. He has made some great blocks this year on players bigger then him and he is a shut down defender. He still has a lot of things to learn on defense but he has shown potential to be a great defender in this league. 4) He has great ball handeling skills. His crossover is incredible and he is also a great passer. There aren't many other players in the NBA that have such a sick crossover and such great passing skills. When all of these qualities come together you get one heck of a basketball player. I think Dwyane Wade will be one of the best players in 2-3 years and will be a future Hall Of Famer if he keeps playing like he is now. I think he will win a championship at some point in his career if not this year. Wade was a great pick for the Heat and he will be on top one day if you ask me.
Good points. I think it's a bit pre-mature to call him a great clutch player, right now, I would just say he's very good underpressure, and in clutch situations. You don't earn the nickname great if you're talking about being clutch until you are proven all around the league and have done so for more than a couple of years. He is very mature. A poise, young, modest, humble man he is. A person like him can go very far in this league. He should become a good leader if he chooses to adapt that role. I wouldn't call him a great defender either, but he's a very good one. One on one, he's not great, but he definitely causes a lot of havoc and plays very good D. His off-ball defense is what helped earned him the 2nd team (defensive honors). His crossover has to be one of the best in the league. I would rank him 1b, next to AI, who's 1a. I don't think it'll take 2-3 years for him to be a "top player". I didn't think he would be a top 10 player this year like other Heat fans predicted, but he definitely has proven to be one. He's improving infront of our eyes, and by this time next year, I think we'll be talking about Dwyane Wade being one of the best players in the NBA. However, it's an elite group that inclues Kobe, T-Mac, Shaq, TD, KG and LeBron. But judging by his work ethic and his improvement, I can see it as a real possibility.
Wade definitely steps up to the occasion. Actually, he has been excellent in post season play for three straight years already. I'm sure many remember his triple double in the Final Four in 2003, and he elevated his game last year in the playoffs as well. Wade is one of the rare talents who can play at a great pace for the regular season and step it up even more when it counts. I'm very impressed by his stamina, quickness and the fact that he knows defensive tendencies well, driving when defenders play him for the shot and shooting when defenders play for the drive. He is also incredibly great at switching hands in mid air after being fouled and making the three point player. Dwyane Wade is surely a superstar for the ages.
